ANTIOCH, Calif. (June 14, 2025) — Trevor Clymens of Brentwood collected his second Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod win of the season at Antioch Speedway and fifth overall in 2025 on Saturday’s Fan Appreciation Night. Clymens took advantage of a late-race mechanical issue for then-leader Kenny Shrader with just two laps remaining in the 20-lap feature.

Kelly Campanile led the early going, with Clymens moving into second ahead of Shrader following a lap two restart. The lead trio ran in tight formation until Shrader executed a big inside move in turn four on lap five to take the lead. A caution followed shortly after when Jason Ryan Jr., a top-five points contender, stalled in turn two.

Shrader continued to lead on the restart, followed by Clymens and Fred Ryland. As the laps clicked off, Ryland and Clymens waged a spirited battle for second. Ryland completed a low move in turn four on lap 12 to take over the runner-up position. The race was halted for the final time on lap 16 when Tommy Clymens Jr. stopped on the track.

On the restart, Ryland pushed in turn two, allowing Shrader to lead Clymens and Trent Golden. But with two laps to go, Shrader’s car began to fade, and Clymens capitalized, diving underneath to take the lead. Golden charged past into second on the final lap, but it was Clymens who held on for the win over Golden and Campanile.

Shafer Scores First Modified Win of the Year

Randy Shafer of Vacaville earned his first Friesen Performance IMCA Modified win of the 2025 season in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region. Shafer led all 20 laps and held off a determined Troy Foulger, the current points leader, during a key mid-race restart to secure the victory.

Shafer paced the field early with Matt Kampfraat in pursuit. A lap two restart allowed Foulger to slip into second while Andrew Pearce moved into third. The field was reset again on lap nine after Eric Berendsen spun in turn four.

Foulger attempted a slide job in turn three on the restart, but Shafer countered with a strong run exiting turn four to hold the lead. The top three pulled away, with Pearce eventually taking second from Foulger with a low move in turn four on lap 18. Shafer never faltered and picked up the victory ahead of Pearce and Foulger.

Ryland Outduels Robles in Stock Car Showdown

Fred Ryland of Brentwood capped off a double-duty night with a win in the 20-lap Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature. The victory marked his third of the season in EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region competition — all at Antioch — and came after an intense side-by-side battle with Jason Robles.

Robles surged ahead at the drop of the green from the front row, leading Jake Archibald and Austin Van Hoff in the early laps. Van Hoff used a low move in turn four to grab second on lap two, but Robles had built a full straightaway lead by lap four. Ryland advanced into third with a pass in turn three and benefited from a lap seven caution for Archibald.

On the restart, Ryland took over second and began pressuring Robles. The lead pair distanced themselves from the field, and on lap 11, Kenneth Robles made his way into third. Fred Ryland slipped underneath Jason Robles in turn four on lap 13 to briefly take the lead, but Robles answered back with an inside move in turn two a lap later.

The duo continued their door-to-door duel until Ryland reclaimed the top spot for good with a low pass in turn four on lap 16. He pulled away in the closing circuits to secure the win over Jason and Kenneth Robles.
