ALGONA, Iowa (Jun. 12, 2025) — The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods feature at Kossuth County Speedway saw a veteran driver make a long-awaited return to victory lane. Colby Fett led after the first lap, but Randy Winter took command on the third circuit. Once out front, Winter never looked back, picking up his first win at the Algona oval in over four years and came aboard a homebuilt chassis.
The battle for second was a tight one among Fett, Matthew Looft, and Jake Simpson. Fett eventually claimed the runner-up spot with Simpson following in third.
Shryock Steals Stock Car Win in Final Corner
The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature produced the most exciting finish of the night. Calvin Lange led the field, and Lange held the early advantage with intense pressure from Kevin Opheim. The two traded lanes and nearly touched while coming across the flag stand side-by-side on lap nine.
Eighth-starting Kelly Shryock slowly reeled in the lead duo and made his move on the final turn of lap 20. When Lange slid a bit high, Shryock slipped underneath to steal the win in the final 100 yards. It was his second win at Algona this season and his seventh EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of 2025. Lange finished second, with Opheim rounding out the top three.
Serbus Sails to Sprint Car Win in Kossuth County Return
The RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Cars made a rare appearance at Kossuth County Speedway with 19 cars on hand. Trevor Serbus and Bayley Ballenger led the field to green, but the yellow quickly flew after Brandon Halverson rolled in turn four. Halverson was unharmed, but his night was over.
On the restart, Serbus took the lead and never looked back. He survived cautions on laps 15 and 19 to collect the $800 payday and his third win of the 2025 season. Tenth-starting Leo Goos Jr. finished second, followed by Laney Moore in third.
Nielsen Controls Hobby Stock Feature
The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature was slowed early when Blayne Smith and Nash Palmer tangled in turn four. Once the race resumed, Cody Hubbell led the first three laps before Brandon Nielsen powered to the front.
Nielsen, of Spencer, led the final 11 laps and earned his second win of the year at Kossuth County, and fourth overall in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region. Josh Sidles crossed the line in second, followed by early leader Hubbell.
Mills Masters Modified Main for Seventh Win of Year
The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds wrapped up the night with a green-white-checkered 15-lap feature. Jason Baas led the first two laps before Jeremy Mills took over and controlled the rest of the way.
The Clear Lake driver picked up his second win at Algona this year and his sixth in the Razor Chassis North Central Region. Nick Meyer finished second, while Shryock doubled up with a third-place finish.
