MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Jun. 13, 2025) — Kael Koch and Kale Hemsley brought the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks to the green for their 16-lap feature at Marshalltown Speedway. Hemsley took the lead early and looked poised for victory. But in a near-repeat of last week, Sam West surged late and nipped Hemsley at the line by just 0.041 seconds for his second B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region win of 2025. Eric Knutson rounded out the top three.
Avila’s Misstep Gives Olson IMCA SportMod Victory
Josalyn Elmquist inherited the pole for the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods after scheduled starter Dayton Swatek did not make the call. Brady Hilmer led the opening lap before Matt Avila ripped the cushion to take over with 17 circuits to go. Despite a few cautions, Avila held strong until a mistake exiting turn four on the final lap allowed Kyle Olson to capitalize and steal the win—his second of the year and first at Marshalltown.
Brayton Carter charged from deep in the field to finish third.

Jeff Muller got the jump over Brayton Carter at the start of the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars main event and never gave up the lead. Muller held on to score his first EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season, followed by Gustin in second and Carter in third.
Carter Wins Fifth of Season, Rust Claims Shootout Honors
The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds feature served as the nightcap. Izac Mallicoat and Kyle Brown led the field to green, with Mallicoat leading the opening lap before Cayden Carter made his move to the front. After taking the lead, Carter quickly stretched his advantage.
Mallicoat slipped back to fourth but regrouped and clawed his way back to second before Joel Rust snuck past him late in the race. Carter, meanwhile, cruised to the $1,000 victory presented by P&D Welding — his fifth of the 2025 season in the Razor Chassis North Central Region.
Earlier in the evening, Carter, Rust, Tim Ward, and Kollin Hibdon emerged from a three-round Mod Structural Shoot-Out as the four finalists. In the three-lap dash, it was Joel Rust who came out on top, earning a $500 payday and the bragging rights of Shoot-Out champion.
