BOONE, Iowa (May 17, 2025) — The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods delivered the most thrilling battle of the night at Boone Speedway. California’s Braden Claborn jumped to the early advantage, steadily working the bottom of the track while leading the field. But the spotlight shifted to Altoona’s Chris Burke, who rim-rode the cushion and reeled Claborn in after starting five spots back. With a handful of laps left, Burke powered around the outside and into the lead. A late caution bunched the pack, but Burke was flawless on the restart to grab his first win at Boone since 2023. Cory Pestotnik got by Claborn for second, while Claborn settled for third.

Schmidt Storms from 12th to Capture Stock Car Win

The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car main saw veteran Jay Schmidt rebound from a rough Friday night flip to claim his first EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of 2025. Schmidt, who started 12th, made quick work of the field and moved into the top three in short order. He then powered past early front runners Rowdee VanGendren and Todd Van Eaton to take over the top spot. The Tama driver’s determination paid off as he held on through the final laps. Jonathan Logue advanced nine spots using the bottom groove to finish second, with Doug Smith charging the top side for third.

Mills Masters Modifieds

The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds didn’t disappoint with an action-packed main event. Joel Bushore led early, but Clear Lake’s Jeremy Mills closed fast, and the two made contact while battling for the lead in turns one and two. Bushore exited the track shortly after while running second, opening the door for Mills to take command. A string of late cautions kept the field bunched, but Mills held on for his fourth Razor Chassis North Central Region victory of the year and third at “Iowa’s Action Track.” Cody Laney used restarts to his advantage and surged to second. Jake McBirnie was in the mix all race and came away with third.

May Breaks Through with First Boone Win of 2025

In the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lite action, Josh May was shot out of a cannon at the start, charging from seventh into the lead battle by the end of lap one. A red flag for Cole Paul’s tip-over reset the field, leading to a spirited fight between May and Austin Gray. This time, May held strong, withstanding Gray’s pressure to score his third win of the season — and first at Boone in 2025. Garrison Anderson crossed in third.

Knutson Captures Second Boone Win of the Season

The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature capped the night, and Slater’s Eric Knutson made the most of it. Sticking to the bottom groove, Knutson picked off nine cars en route to his second B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region victory — both of which have come at Boone. Kolby Sabin, continuing his run of strong performances, finished second. Joe Wollenhaupt earned third to round out the podium.
