Manning Rolls to Second IMCA Modified Win at Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (May 10, 2025) – 2024 Bakersfield Speedway champion Gavyn Manning continued to build momentum towards a 2025 title, winning his second Friesen Performance IMCA Modified race of the season during round four at Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway on Saturday night.

Manning and Austin Kiefer claimed the IMCA Modified heat races before Manning lined up tenth for the 30-lap, $750-to-win feature. Incoming second in points Brad Pounds tagged the turn four wall for a caution on lap nine. The restart allowed Kiefer and Manning to challenge race leader Justin Crockett. Kiefer slid Crockett in turn two and went wide, opening the bottom for Manning to drive underneath and lead lap 10.

Manning led the rest of the way for the convincing win, his third in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region, followed by Kiefer and Bryan Clark.

Ninth-starting Tyler Bannister charged into the lead by lap 10 in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA SportMods 25-lap feature and never relinquished it for a $600 score. Baypoint’s Danny Wagner led the first nine circuits. A restart on lap 18 adversely impacted Wagner’s race, when he spun on the restart and fell outside of the top 10.

Bannister led Dylan Wilson by 1.5 seconds at the finish with incoming points leader Tate Loftis in third.

Nicholas Johnson had a dominating win in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car 20-lap feature event, enjoying a 2.2 second advantage at the finish. David Pearson of Ridgecrest finished second followed by Jacob Van Essen, Justin Schweitzer, and Raymond Noland.

Kiefer repeats IMCA Modified triumph at McGowan Memorial

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (June 27) – Racing returned to Bakersfield Speedway and Austin Kiefer returned to victory lane following Saturday’s Richie McGowan Memorial. Kiefer topped the IMCA Modified special ahead of Robby Sawyer for a second straight year, earning $1,000. Jerry Flippo, Cody Laney and Troy Foulger completed the top five. “It was pretty cool deal. To be able to win this race twice in a row means a lot to me,” said Kiefer, already a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot candidate. “I grew up watching Tina and Brad (Pounds, McGowan’s daughter and son-in-law) race.” Kiefer started outside Sawyer on the front row and led every lap. Bakersfield Speedway primes for opening night March 6

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The long-awaited green flag flies for the first time this season Saturday, March 6 at Bakersfield Speedway. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods all see action at the California oval idled for much of 2020 by the Covid-19 pandemic. “It was a crazy, weird season last year,” acknowledged Promoter Scott Schweitzer. “It’s exciting to be able to go racing again. Wedelstadt Holds Off Czarapata for First Modified Win of 2025

(May 9, 2025) — Tony Wedelstadt withstood a last-lap charge from former track champion Jason Czarapata to claim his first Friesen Performance IMCA Modified win of the season at Luxy Raceway. The Combined Locks racer launched to the lead at the drop of the green flag and built a sizable advantage as Czarapata settled into second. While Wedelstadt looked dominant up top, Czarapata began reeling him in during the closing laps, setting up a thrilling finish. Czarapata, the 2014 Luxy Raceway and 2012 Wisconsin State champion, made a bold move on the final circuit, but Wedelstadt held his ground, narrowly edging out the veteran racer at the line. Hellman Claims First IMCA Stock Car Win at Dacotah Speedway

By Becca Pelkey MANDAN, N.D. (May 9, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature at Dacotah Speedway was a thrilling battle for the lead, with Scott Gartner initially leading the charge. However, Geoff Hellman made his move on lap two and quickly distanced himself from the pack. Gartner then found himself under pressure from Jason Meidinger, and a mistake off turn two allowed both Meidinger and Todd Carter to slip by. As the race wore on, the battle for fifth became the focal point with Aaron Aaseth, Andrew Jochim, and Brock Beeter fighting hard for position. Hellman, though, was untouchable out front, crossing the finish line for his first career IMCA Stock Car feature win in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region. Janke Dominates Modifieds for First Win on New Shawano Surface

By Brandon Reichenberger SHAWANO, Wisc. (May 10, 2025) — After much anticipation, Mother Nature finally cooperated to allow 200 truckloads of new clay to be laid on Shawano Speedway. The new surface produced multi-groove racing, little dust, and plenty of speed as the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds headlined the action-packed night. Tanner Janke made the most of the fresh track, taking control early and holding off a strong charge from Lucas Lamberies to secure his first Razor Chassis North Central Region win of 2025. Janke, who started on the front row alongside his father Gary Janke, jumped to the lead and built a sizable advantage before the first of two cautions flew for a spin by Jason Yeager in turn four. On both restarts, Janke maintained his composure and pulled away, despite pressure from Lamberies, who had charged from eighth.
