Arlington Raceway hosts Aug. 1 Sibley County Shootout special

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 3, 2022) – Opportunity knocked and Elijah Zevenbergen answered Wednesday night at Arlington Raceway.  The second-running Zevenbergen dove from the top of the track to the bottom following a late restart, taking the lead from Jim Horejsi and ultimately taking the $2,500 checkers in the Sibley County IMCA Sunoco Stock Car Shootout.  Already eligible to qualify for the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational, Zevenbergen was the fifth different leader in the 25-lapper and crossed the stripe ahead of Horejsi and Curt Lund.  Michael Jaennette had drawn the pole and ran in front of Jeffrey Larson before spinning out of first. Larson’s turn at the front ended with turn two troubles that saw him exit for the pits. Lund inherited the lead, surrendering the point three laps later to Horejsi, who stayed in charge until the lap 22 restart.  Tim Pessek and Tim Johnson rounded out the top five. ARLINGTON, Minn. (June 20) – Jeff Carter was on a tear from the start of Saturday’s opening night Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature at Arlington Raceway. Carter got a great start from the second row and was in the lead by the first turn. Despite numer­ous stoppages, he held onto the top spot throughout to win his first feature of the year. Eric Lar­son tried to catch him but had to contend with the fast-moving Kris Zuhlsdorf and settled for se­cond. Clint Hatlestad raced to IMCA Modified career win number 99 and Brandon Allen led the distance in the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature.  Brent Uecker was the third and final leader in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main. ARLINGTON, Minn. (June 1) – Saturday’s MN 93 IMCA Modified feature at Arlington Raceway was won by newcomer Cole Anderson, who took the lead on lap six and stayed in front to the checkers. Bill Johnson picked up another trophy in the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature. Michael Stien looked as though he was going to victory lane as he had quite a distance ahead of Johnson but Stien’s tire wore down and Johnson was able to take over the race with four laps to go. The B&B Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature saw Matt Schauer take charge following a restart and capture his first local checkers of the season. Matt Looft was the final leader in the Unhinged Pizza IMCA SportMod main that was contested right to the final lap and Cory Probst motored from 10th starting to win the Eckblad Trucking IMCA Hobby Stock feature. Eleventh starting Alex Dostal was the Coors Light IMCA Sport Com­pact winner.
