SHAWANO, Wis. (June 9) – Marcus Yarie and Kyle Raddant made return trips to the winner’s circle at Shawano Speedway following IMCA Modified and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main events, respectively.
Chucky Forstner and Jerry Muenster battled for the lead on the opening lap of the Modified main. Forstner held the lead until lap 10 when rookie Brekken Kleinschmidt took to the outside of the track and grabbed the front spot.
Yarie followed Kleinschmidt around Forstner into second, then powered his way past Kleinschmidt for the lead on the following lap. Wyatt Block soon passed Kleinschmidt to grab second. In the end it was Yarie for the win, chased by Block, Kleinschmidt, Lance Arneson, and Jerry Wilinski.
Kaden Besaw led the opening lap of the Northern SportMod feature before giving way to Raddant, who then took to the high line of the track and looked to ride off into the sunset.
Behind Raddant, Bryce Clements, Cole Magnin and Lucas Lamberies jockeyed for position. Magnin’s night ended though after getting into the outside wall. Lamberies raced to second but was never able to offer a serious challenge for the lead; 17thstarting Jason Jach finished third, Kevin Bethke fourth and Jordan Bartz fifth.
Travis Van Straten scored his second straight and third overall IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win.
SHAWANO, Wis. (July 22, 2023) – There were some new faces in victory lane at the legendary half-mile Shawano Speedway Saturday night. Up first was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division and the man of the hour would be Mitch Stankowski as he jumped to an early lead from sixth starting and into the lead by two. Travis VanStraten and Dan Michonski followed in what became a three-car breakaway. Stankowski held his ground, fought off the challenges of his fellow competitors and was not denied as he raced his no. 5 to victory lane. “It’s nice to win and I want to do it again,” he said. “We definitely have a lot of stout competition here.” As the checkered flags flew at the line in the $3,000 to win Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature it was Johnny Whitman, Mike Wedelstadt, Mike Mullen and Konnor Willinski finishing in that order. By Dave Buss SHAWANO, Wis. (May 29) – The Memorial Weekend brought cool temperatures and hot action to the Shawano Speedway along with the unofficial start of summer. Wyatt Block, Travis Van Straten and Tyler Sobiescyk got their summers off to the best start of everyone with feature wins. Early action saw Jerry Wilinski jump to the lead in the IMCA Modified main and begin to build a big advantage. The caution would fly on lap four and bring the field to his bumper. On the restart, Wilinski scooted away only to have a debris bring out another yellow. Block and Andy Karl filled the second row on the lap six restart. Wilinski again extended his lead with Karl and Block fighting it out for the runner-up spot. Block took the second spot and begin to reel in the Wilinski machine at halfway. SHAWANO, Wis. (July 23-24) – Fans were given two opportunities to watch racing action at Shawano Speedway as the Mid-Summer Classic kicked off on Friday. Mike Mullen was the story on opening night, picking up All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility wins in both the IMCA Modified and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car divisions in very impressive fashion while Jayden Schmidt paced the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods. Saturday would provide just as much action as Marcus Yarie, Jeffery Teske and Chucky Forstner found victory lane. The Northern SportMods kicked action off with what looked to be another great run by Max Oreskovich jumping to the early lead. Oreskovich led the early part of the race with Schmidt giving him astiff challenge for the top spot. Jeff Schmuhl and Teske joined the battle up front. As the leaders entered turn one, Oreskovich’s engine expired, taking him to the outside wall and collecting Schmidt, who was able to continue after a trip to pit lane.
