SHAWANO, Wis. (May 19) – Rookie Wyatt Block won his first career IMCA Modified feature Saturday at Shawano Speedway.
Trevor Spaulding pulled to the early lead with Eddie Muenster in tow. As those two paced the field, Block began to work through the field after starting the race in 10th. By the time Block passed Muenster for second near the midpoint of the race, Spaulding had built up a sizeable advantage.
Block continued to reel in Spaulding, though, before a caution after lap 13 bunched the field back up.
Block took advantage and grabbed the lead with an inside pass for the lead on lap 15, then never looked back in scoring his first IMCA Modified win. Spaulding finished second. Lance Arneson was the hard charger as he moved from 17th starting to finish third.
Jeremy Christians notched another IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win, his first of the 2018 season, while Lucas Lamberies remained unbeaten in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods as he won his third feature in a row.
SHAWANO, Wis. (April 17) – Welcome sights on opening night at Shawano Speedway included a nearly packed grandstand and 111 cars checking in to the pit area. Eric ‘Chummy’ Arneson would return to racing action at the speedway in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division and would battle through caution the opening laps to take the lead on lap four, powering past the Chucky Forstner machine and bringing Jeremy Christians along with him. Arneson and Christians were joined by Kevin Hebbe in the top three before numerous cautions set up a final lap shoot out that found Christians jumping past Arneson to pick up another feature win. The constant throughout the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod event was defending track champion Jayden Schmidt leading the pack. Schmidt gained the top spot from Jason Jach on lap two and survived multiple restarts to pick up the feature win. Jeff Schmuhl powered through the field from his ninth place starting spot to grab second while Jeffrey Teske took third. The IMCA Modifieds rolled on the track with Mike Mullen to the [Read More]
By Scott J. Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (June 25, 2022) – Though the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division is known as The Class Too Tough To Tame, it doesn’t always feature a three-wide battle for the lead for nearly half of the race. But Saturday night at Shawano Speedway it sure did with Trent Nolan prevailing for his fourth win of the year. Fresh off an impressive heat race win earlier in the evening, Dylan Stedjee took the lead on lap one. Tyler Wendt pressured Stedjee from the start, pulled alongside the leader on more than one occasion while Kyle Frederick, Nolan and Luke Lemmens joined the battle at the front of the field. Frederick pulled to the outside of Stedjee on lap seven to take the lead. Lemmens quickly made it three-wide for the lead with Frederick and Stedjee. Frederick continued to lead as Lemmens ran second and Nolan moved to third. On lap 11, Frederick, Lemmens and Nolan began their three-wide battle for the win that would continue for the final nine laps of the race. Most often [Read More]
By Scott Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (June 9) – Marcus Yarie and Kyle Raddant made return trips to the winner’s circle at Shawano Speedway following IMCA Modified and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main events, respectively. Chucky Forstner and Jerry Muenster battled for the lead on the opening lap of the Modified main. Forstner held the lead until lap 10 when rookie Brekken Kleinschmidt took to the outside of the track and grabbed the front spot. Yarie followed Kleinschmidt around Forstner into second, then powered his way past Kleinschmidt for the lead on the following lap. Wyatt Block soon passed Kleinschmidt to grab second. In the end it was Yarie for the win, chased by Block, Kleinschmidt, Lance Arneson, and Jerry Wilinski. Kaden Besaw led the opening lap of the Northern SportMod feature before giving way to Raddant, who then took to the high line of the track and looked to ride off into the sunset. Behind Raddant, Bryce Clements, Cole Magnin and Lucas Lamberies jockeyed for position. Magnin’s night ended though after getting into the outside [Read More]
