FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (July 11) – He may not be in championship contention this year but Johnny Whitman showed why he is still a force to be reckoned with. Whitman picked up his second win of the season Saturday at 141 Speedway in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds.
Luke Lemmens started on the pole for the 20-car, 21-lap feature. He led the opening lap before giving way to Brandon Long up top. Long rode the top around the 1/3 mile with Lemmens in tow.
This opened up the bottom for Whitman to come from his ninth starting spot to third by lap four. He tracked down the duo quickly and made the pass for the lead down low on lap 10. Whitman dominated the last half of the caution-free race to pick up his second win of the season.
Long beat Lemmens for second in the race-long duel.
Other winners included John Heinz in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Josh Lambert in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Scott Johnson in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts.
