Garner wins wild one in Marysville

(May 11, 2024) – The stars of the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod division invaded Marysville Raceway on Saturday and Antioch veteran Mark Garner shined the brightest in the May 11 show. The first few laps were a wild and wacky affair. K.C. Carpenter jumped out to the lead but got sideways around lap two and Phillip Shelby took over the top-place position. Shelby got the field back to green but was struck with horrible luck when his powerplant expired shortly after the restart. Garner became the third different leader in the two completed laps. Despite a brief period when he was under a bit of pressure, Garner put on a clinic for the rest of the distance. Ford finishes first at Marysville

(April 2, 2022) – IMCA Northern SportMods were back on track at Marysville Raceway and Yuba City speedster Jimmy Ford made his way to victory lane following the Saturday night 20-lapper. Shaun Merritt captured the top spot when the green flag dropped. The race saw eight total stoppages taking place and five in the first five laps. Merritt was heavily challenged by Scott Savell on several restarts, going as far as taking the lead only for the pass to be negated due to yellow flags. After Merritt spun on a restart, Savell inherited the lead on lap five. Savell himself, unfortunately, would get sideways on a lap 12 restart, relinquishing first place to Ford, piloting the Scott Kaams-owned entry, who then had to hold off a quick Damian Merritt. Ford kept Merritt in check to pick up the victory while Shaun Merritt recovered to third. Hunter Merritt placed fourth over Savell.

Cooper collects Marysville checkers

(April 10) – Former track champion Todd Cooper was back in victory lane following the second visit this season by Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods to Marysville Raceway. Four stoppages took place in the 20-lap affair, all within the first two laps being completed. Once racing got going, Cooper would take control of the first-place position. Cooper did get a little pressure from fellow Yuba City chauffeur Donnie Fortney but was able to keep his challenger in check. The 2019 track champion at Marysville, Cooper went on to lead the remaining 18 laps to earn his first Karl triumph of the new season and become the second different winner in as many events at Marysville. Jimmy Ford, another Yuba City runner, rallied to a second-place result while Sacramento’s Scott Savell placed third. The House of Merritt comprised the rest of the top five finishers. Damian, of Marysville, and Mike Merritt, from Yuba City, was fourth and fifth.

Stock Car Spotlight Shines on Worthington Speedway on June 14

(Jun. 12, 2025) — The stars of the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars will be out in full force this Saturday, June 14 at Worthington Speedway, with a $2,000 payday awaiting the winner of the special event. Stock Cars will run a draw/redraw format and compete for IMCA National, EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region, Minnesota State, and track points. There is no entry fee for drivers, though a $35 pit pass is required. A free Hoosier Racing Tire will also be given away to one lucky competitor. A lucrative purse structure will reward top finishers, with $1,000 for second, $600 for third, $400 for fourth, and $300 for fifth. Sixth through 10th will pay $250, $240, $230, $220, and $210 respectively, with all other A-main starters earning $200. Runge, Raynard Crowned 2025 Tougher Than Dirt Tour Champions

(Jun. 12, 2025) — With rain washing out the finale at Nodak Speedway, the 2025 Tougher Than Dirt Tour wrapped up following Saturday night’s action at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Bottineau. The tour saw five nights of racing across North Dakota and one in the province of Saskatchewan. For the first time in the 10-year history of the series, both champions hailed from the “Land of the Living Skies,” making it a landmark year for Canadian competitors. Runge Earns First SportMod Title Leevi Runge from Lampman, Saskatchewan, claimed the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod championship after a consistent and powerful week. Probst Powers to Third Arlington Hobby Stock Win

(Jun. 7, 2025) — In Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock action at Arlington Raceway, Jonathan Schroeder was the early leader until he pulled off the track on lap 9, following a yellow for Taylor Manderfield’s engine issues. That opened the door for Cory Probst, who took over after the restart and never looked back. The Brewster driver powered to his 13th victory of the season in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region and third of the year at Arlington. Jordan Robinson followed Probst across the line in second.
