Rust, Paris are sharp in topless shows at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 7, 2024) – Marshalltown Speedway was host to the first of two Twin Topless Dirty 30 races Friday night. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Friesen Performance Northern SportMods both removed their tops for the unique race program. Mother Nature tried to stop the fun, but a few sprinkles during the SportMod feature, didn’t stop the show, and racing action returned quickly. Joel Rust won the exciting Modified feature and it was Shane Paris winning in the SportMods. Cayden Carter ran away and hid in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car event, Calvin Dhondt came from row six to take the checkers in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock division and Illinois racer, Jason Masengarb took top honors in the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites. Brockert breaks dry spell at CJ Speedway

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (June 7, 2024) – Kemper Trucking & Excavation sponsored Friday night racing action at CJ Speedway located on the Louisa County Fairgrounds in Columbus Junction, Iowa. The race car count continues to grow in 2024 and the racing was very good on Friday night. Dan Brockert broke a three-year dry spell by capturing the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. The Class Too Tough To Tame ran its feature as the headliner of the night and the main saw a stout field of 14 drivers take the initial green flag. Brockert took off from his pole position start but was never able to break away for a comfortable lead. Kirk Kinsley applied pressure early before Corey Strothman was able to take over the second spot and close on Brockert. John Oliver Jr. and Chad Krogmeier advanced toward the front from eighth and sixth position starts, respectively, and joined the lead pack as well. Show-Me State sprinter gets first Eagle win

The Hurryin’ Missourian topped the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car main event, taking the lead from Shayle Bade with six laps to go and outrunning Bade, Cody Ledger and Brandon Horton following a restart the next go-around. “We did what we needed to do and got it done tonight,” said Thomas, a winner in his career 20th start in the winged class. “I can’t thank everybody who helps us out enough, my Mom and dad, my crew who did a phenomenal job on the car. To get this win at a place like this is really great! Snellenberger, Schroeder sweep at Seymour

Rod Snellenberger earned his first feature flag of the 2024 campaign with a heat win to boot in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars while Cody Schroeder doubled up in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. Snellenberger ducked underneath Tyler Wilson to snatch the lead on lap five and never relinquished the top spot the rest of the way. His 222nd career win in the division was good for $1,000 and B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. Shryock scores $2,000 Hobo Hustle checkers

By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (June 7, 2024) – Cloudy skies and early sprinkles did little to dampen the exciting action on Friday night at Hancock County Speedway, with IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars competing for a $2,000 Hobo Hustle top prize. Landus was the night’s title sponsor. Kelly Shryock hustled to the lead the early in the feature and motored out to a sizeable advantage that he held throughout much of the race. While he was leading, the action throughout the rest of the field was intense, as Colby Fett made a late-race run around the outside of the speedway to ultimately finish second. Garner garners Marysville win with last-lap pass

(June 1, 2024) – Mark Garner’s second win of the season at Marysville Raceway came following his pass for the front of the final lap of Saturday’s Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main event. The feature kicked off with Shaun Merritt taking an early lead and setting a blistering pace with Garner hot on his heels. Merritt’s strategic use of the middle portion of the racing surface proved to be formidable and as Garner’s efforts were thwarted, it opened a window for Ray Lindeman to challenge for the runner-up position. The first stoppage, on the ninth circuit, bunched the field up and give Merritt an open track to work with. When the green flag returned, Garner got a brilliant run down the back stretch on lap 13, getting beside Merritt but just unable to complete the pass. (June 1, 2024) – Electric City Speedway had another stellar installment to their 2024 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing slate with 20 Friesen Performance IMCA Modified entries on hand for Saturday’s show. Rex Feller skillfully maneuvered around front row starters John Price and Patrick La Mere, surging ahead to a significant lead within the first few laps and setting the stage for what proved to be a fiercely competitive race. As Feller held onto his lead, the race intensified into a thrilling pursuit. Kaycie Kynett steadily closed the gap but was unable to find a way past the leader. The two front runners began to approach lapped traffic but fortunately for Feller, a majority of the slower cars he encountered were operating on the high side of the track. Gentry picks up Strawberry Cup feature win

(June 1, 2024) – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars were back at Willamette Speedway on Saturday for the historical Strawberry Cup, a race the venue has hosted for several decades. The race kicked off with a bang as Scott Winebarger took the lead on the first lap. Young talent Calista Johnson, applied pressure on the second circuit, almost overtaking the seasoned driver at the line. This thrilling battle continued for several laps, allowing Myke Landis and Sean Gentry to stay within striking distance. By the eighth lap, Winebarger had established a comfortable lead. Gentry secured the second position from Johnson and set his sights on Winebarger. The 17th and 18th laps saw cautions, setting the stage for a showdown between the two frontrunners.
