Richards and Smith Shine in Thursday Super Nationals Stock Car Qualifiers

By Ben Deatherage BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 4, 2025) — Braden Richards scored redemption Thursday night at Boone Speedway, topping Sunoco IMCA Stock Car Qualifier 3 during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The 25-lap feature put the top four into the middle row of Saturday’s Big Dance. Richards led from the opening circuit and was never seriously challenged. A pair of cautions in the first four laps and again on lap 18 slowed the pace, but each time Richards was flawless on the restart. The Madrid motorist drove away from the field for the win, with 2013 Friesen Performance IMCA Modified National champion William Gould in second, Chris Pruitt charging from 19th to third, and 2019 IMCA Hobby Stock National champion Jeff Ware sealing the final transfer in fourth. Whitman and Gustin Deliver Thursday Modified Qualifier Victories at Super Nationals

By Ben Deatherage BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 4, 2025) — Johnny Whitman of Suamico, Wisconsin, raced to victory in Friesen Performance IMCA Modified Qualifier 3 Thursday at Boone Speedway during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The 25-lap feature advanced the top four finishers into the middle row of Saturday’s Big Dance. Whitman, an eight-time 141 Speedway champion, including this season, led from the opening lap in the Jerovetz Motorsports no. 08. He fought off repeated challenges from Minnesota’s Jacob Dahle during multiple cautions and long stretches of side-by-side racing. After a lap 17 restart, Whitman was flawless the rest of the way to seal the win. By Ben Deatherage BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 3, 2025) — Tim Ward raced his way to victory in Friesen Performance IMCA Modified Qualifier 1 Wednesday at Boone Speedway during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The 25-lap contest locked the top four finishers into the inside row of Saturday’s Big Dance. Wyoming’s Bryson Yeager jumped to the front on the opening circuit, with Ward — the 2023 Super Nationals champion and Saturday’s Prelude winner — close behind. The two battled through heavy lapped traffic by lap eight, with Ward using a slower car as a pick to wrestle the lead away on lap 13. Two late cautions gave Ward, originally from Mesa, Ariz., and now calling Harcourt, Iowa home, clear track to race to the checkers. Murty and Abbey Capture Wednesday Stock Car Qualifier Victories at Super Nationals

By Ben Deatherage BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 3, 2025) —Two-time Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s champion Dallon Murty of Chelsea, Iowa, returned to victory lane Wednesday at Boone Speedway, winning Sunoco IMCA Stock Car Qualifier 1. The 25-lap contest locked the top four finishers into the inside row of Saturday’s Big Dance. Braden Richards led the opening lap after starting fourth before cautions slowed the pace on laps six and nine. On the latter restart, Richards got sideways and collected several cars, handing the lead to Murty. The Chelsea driver stayed out front the rest of the way, though he bobbled slightly coming to the checkers. Two-time 34 Raceway Stock Car champion Jeff Mueller made a last-lap run, but Murty held him off at the line. Van Der Wilt and Nielsen Capture Tuesday Hobby Stock Qualifiers at Super Nationals

By Ben Deatherage BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 2, 2025) — Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks ran two 25-lap qualifiers Tuesday night at the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s, with the top eight finishers from each race advancing to Saturday’s Big Dance at Boone Speedway. Corey Van Der Wilt dominated Qualifier 2, which set the middle row, while Brandon Nielsen prevailed in a thriller to win Qualifier 3, which set the outside row. In Qualifier 2, Van Der Wilt who hails from Lynnville, the 2023 Marshalltown Speedway champion, set the tone early and survived cautions on laps four, 12, and 20. Each time, he checked out on the restart and controlled the pace, cruising to a flag-to-flag win. Austin Jahnz charged forward from 12th to finish second, with Dustin Filloon third. Bolden and Carney Capture RaceSaver Nationals Qualifiers as Main Event Postponed to 2026

(Aug. 30, 2025) — With threatening weather forecasts for Sunday and beyond, Eagle Raceway officials combined both the Friday and Saturday programs of the 13th annual IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Nationals into a marathon card. A total of 104 RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car drivers filled the pits for the prestigious event. Friday’s qualifying feature saw Carson Bolden work his way forward after an early scramble at the front. He caught leader Stu Snyder just past the halfway mark, then powered into the lead on lap 14. Once out front, Bolden set the pace while the pack shuffled behind him. Kevin Ramey made his way into second and kept Bolden in sight, with Adam Gullion rallying late into third. Snyder held on to complete the top four transfers. By Ben Deatherage BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 1, 2025) — Tyler Heckart captured Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod Qualifier 1 on Monday night at Boone Speedway during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The 25-lap feature locked eight drivers into the inside row of Saturday’s Big Dance. Michael Johnson, a 2019 Bakersfield Speedway champion originally from California and now living in Minnesota, and Kamdyn Haggard battled hard on the opening lap before Johnson claimed the lead on lap three. Hunter Poston slipped past Johnson the next time around, but Johnson clawed back to the front on the sixth circuit. By lap 10, North Dakota’s Nathan Speten, the 2024 IMCA TV Winter Nationals champion, had reeled in the leaders and powered to the point, appearing to be the man to beat. By Ben Deatherage BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 1, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Late Models took center stage Monday night at Boone Speedway with a 50-lap Big Dance during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. When the checkers flew, Malvern’s Jesse Sobbing parked the Shane Hoeft-owned no. 99 in victory lane for his first career Super Nationals title. The opening laps saw Zach Zeitner, the reigning Crawford County and Shelby County Speedway champion, and Jesse Bodin battle hard for control, with Bodin briefly edging ahead on lap two. Sobbing, a two-time Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod National champion, powered into the lead on lap five. Zeitner stayed close, taking several looks on the inside before cautions on laps seven and 17 slowed the field. C.J. Illinois’ Jon Padilla, a two-time Illinois State and Corn Belt Clash champion, finally broke through for his first career Super Nationals crown after finishing runner-up the last three years. Brandon Freeburg of Illinois led the opening circuits before cautions at laps eight and 14 slowed the pace. It was the last chance to qualify, with 25 laps on the line and the top 10 finishers securing spots in the outside row of the Big Dance. Kaden Cochran took the lead on lap one in the Cory Sonner-owned no. 47X. Cochran, originally from California and now based in Missouri, paced the field while 2023 Super Nationals winner Ronnie Choate of Tennessee and 2025 track champion Austin Gray began reeling him in.
