Ward, Murty, Gustin, Knutson find victory lane at DeFrance Memorial

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 26, 2024) – A large crowd was on hand for the annual running of the Dale DeFrance Memorial Friday at Marshalltown Speedway. One hundred sixty cars in five classes packed the pits for the prestigious race. Extra money was also on the line in all classes that saw the night celebrate the patriarch of the DeFrance Family, Dale DeFrance, as well as the entire DeFrance racing family. The Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature ran first. Jenae Gustin wasted no time in taking her ride from the fourth starting spot to the front by lap two. She was challenged at times early by pole sitter Eddie Ingram and late in the race Brayton Carter threw his hat into the ring in an attempt to catch Gustin. Season enters home stretch at Off Road

Just four events are scheduled during the month of August, including a pair of memorial specials honoring Bob Haase and Lynn Langenburg, as well as championship night where unofficial points winners will be determined across the track’s five divisions. On Saturday, Cory Dumpert and Anthony Roth started side-by-side in the fourth row of the IMCA Sunoco Late Model field, then established a two-car chase well ahead of the rest of the pack before finishing first and second, respectively. Dumpert broke away following a caution four laps into the race with Roth in pursuit but unable to find an opening, even when the two cars caught up to lapped traffic with 10 laps left. Saathoff makes it two straight at Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (July 27, 2024) – Johnny Saathoff went old school and took his Friesen Performance IMCA Modified foes to class Saturday at Eagle Raceway. Saathoff led from lap two to the checkers, outrunning Clint Homan, Shawn Harker and Dustin Andersen following a caution with seven laps to go, for his second straight Eagle checkers. The win was also his career 361st in the division. “I’ve gone old school. I put in an open motor and got away from the crate engine. Connelly wires IMCA Northern SportMod main at Antioch

(July 27, 2024) – Hometown driver Dylan Connelly won the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature in flag-to-flag fashion Saturday at Antioch Speedway. When the green flag waved, Connelly charged into the lead ahead of Tommy Clymens. Championship hopeful Jason Ryan Jr. quickly moved into third and set his sights on the consistent Clymens. Clymens was hitting all of his marks on the bottom groove as Connelly led the way. Ryan’s attempts to get by Clymens continued to be thwarted before a yellow flag waved on the 12th circuit. This might have been Ryan’s opportunity to get past Clymens, but Connelly continued to lead Clymens and Ryan on the restart. On the 18th circuit, Ryan went around the outside of Clymens in the fourth turn to grab second. Clymens spun in the same turn a lap later without a yellow flag. Connelly sped home to victory ahead of Ryan, Kenny Shrader, Kelly Campanile and Trevor Clymens.

Wolf gets first win, Rundle repeats at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (July 28, 2024) – It was a memorable Sunday for Will Wolf at Benton County Speedway. The Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod driver raced to his career first win on the fast, smooth, quarter-mile Bullring. Robert Patava led the early stages of the 15-lapper while Wolf worked into contention from a second row start. He took command a handful of laps into the event while Kyle Olson and Tony Olson made their way through the pack. Wolf built a one second lead over the Olsons, who battled side-by-side behind the leader throughout much of the race. Wolf maintained his stay out front to drive to the milestone win ahead of Tony Olson, who inched ahead of Kyle Olson at the checkers. Rayce Mullen ran fourth. CJ Speedway hosts fair night Battle on the Levee

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 25, 2024) – With the Louisa County Fair in full swing, CJ Speedway hosted a special night of racing as The Battle on the Levee posted a huge purse for the competitors thanks to a host of sponsors like Screamer Express and many more who helped make the night a very special night for the drivers. The final race of the night was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature, which saw 20 drivers take the initial green flag. Several visitors, who are regarded as the best in the business, converged on the Louisa County Fairgrounds to battle it out on the 4/10-mile oval. The track was in great shape and provided plenty of side-by-side racing. Dustin Vis led for the first two laps before sixth starting Cayden Carter was able to move out front. Barglof, Fett, Shryock, Braaksma are Britt fair victors

By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (July 23, 2024) – IMCA racing action kicked off the 2024 Hancock County Fair grandstand events with the Black Dirt Nationals. Races were sponsored by Java 18 and Schleusner Dirt Works and featured trophies besting six foot tall. Ethan Braaksma’s hot July continued with him dominating the Tuesday Friesen Performance IMCA Modified action. Winning the heat and main event, he collected $1,000 for his efforts. Already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, he bested a charging Cody Knecht, who came from the sixth starting spot to finish second. Kelly Shryock and Timothy Allerdings completed the top four. Though Colby Fett pressured for the lead early in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, the ninth starting Shryock ran away with the feature. Sweigart sprints to second Keystone RaceSaver title

(July 20, 2024) – Nick Sweigart wired the field at Port Royal Speedway Saturday to become only the second driver ever to win the River Valley Builders Pennsylvania Sprint Series’ biggest race, the Keystone RaceSaver Challenge, twice. The veteran driver, who returned to PASS last season after a couple of seasons running 410 sprints, collected his 11th career victory with his latest win. Seven of those have come at Port Royal. Sweigart joins Jeff Miller as the only drivers to win the Keystone RaceSaver Challenge twice in its 13 runnings. His seventh Port Royal win overall moved him into third place in overall PASS wins at the track, trailing only Miller and Garrett Bard, each with 12. Near flawless night, great track make for quick race program at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 20, 2024) – A quick race program played out due to an almost flawless night and great track conditions Saturday at Arlington Raceway. The only mishap all night occurred in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature when a collision happened in turn one between the cars of Jeremy Ziemke and Taylor Manderfield, ending both their race nights. Ziemke had been the early leader and after a restart, Cory Probst got by him to take over the lead and win again. Brad Becker moved up with Probst to take second ahead of Chad Volk. The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature saw Dale Gatton take the lead on lap two and remain in front in the green to checkered flag race. Redwood Stock Car checkers are first for Rogotzke

REDWOOD FALLS, Minn. (July 21, 2024) – After running second to younger brother Jordan in the evening’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event, Jesse Rogotzke was bound and determined to get a win during the Redwood County Fair Race himself. He did just that, taking his first ever IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers in the Sunday night finale at Redwood Speedway. “After he won, I figured it was my turn to get a win,” reasoned Rogotzke, a Modified veteran now with 15 sanctioned Stock Car starts under his belt this season. “It felt great,” he added. “Our goal was to get one win this season and now we’ve done that. “Hopefully we can get some more.” Rogotzke had drawn the pole start and protected the bottom line in leading the 15-lapper start to finish.
