
Morris Earns First Career Late Model Win at Davenport
By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (Jun. 6, 2025) — Jake Morris captured an impressive and emotional first-ever victory in the Sunoco IMCA Late Model division Friday night at Davenport Speedway. The rookie started fourth and ran among the leaders for the first half of the 25-lap main event. A lap 16 caution for a three-car pile-up on the front stretch reset the field and opened the door for Morris. On the restart, Morris powered around early leader Chris Lawrence to take command. From there, he held off a hard-charging Matt Ryan over the final 10 laps. Ryan had started 10th and closed quickly but had to settle for second. Logan Veloz advanced from 13th to round out the podium in third.
