Noah Speicher: Racing the Plains, Building a Legacy

By Ben Deatherage FORT MORGAN, Colo. (May 19, 2025) — Nestled in the plains of northeastern Colorado, Fort Morgan has long been a place where resilience and reinvention go hand in hand. The fort was established in 1864, and at one point it was manned by Confederate prisoners of war, known as “galvanized rebels,” who chose to enlist in the Union Army rather than remain as POWs. Today, that spirit of grit and determination lives on in the town’s racing community—especially in 14-year-old Noah Speicher. Born into a racing family, Speicher was practically raised on the dirt of I-76. His family owns and operates the track, an elbows-up bullring where cars jostle for every inch of real estate. It’s a place where Speicher has spent countless hours—first as a fan watching his father, Beau Speicher, wheel an IMCA Modified, and now as a racer himself. And Beau still occasionally straps in for a race, reminding Noah that he’s not the only Speicher looking to make some noise. On May 3rd, Speicher added a new chapter to [Read More]

Danley Dodges Late-Race Chaos for Eagle Raceway Sprint Car Win

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (May 17, 2025) — Eagle Raceway fans were treated to a rare three-wide start for RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Cars on Saturday night, an occurrence typically reserved for the annual IMCA RaceSaver Nationals held every Labor Day weekend. Billy Alley started on the outside of row one and immediately took control, leading the opening lap of the 30-lap feature with Tyler Drueke and Joey Danley in tow. John Klabunde jumped to third on lap three and then passed Drueke for second two laps later. Klabunde patiently followed Alley until lap 18, when he seized the lead — only to get caught behind a lapped car, allowing Alley to reclaim the top spot. Meanwhile, Danley overtook Drueke for third after Drueke made contact with Brandon Horton. Alley’s run ended dramatically with six laps to go when he made contact with the Mike Boston, spun, and executed a slow roll in turns one and two, bringing out the red flag. Trevor Grossenbacher also exited the race during the stoppage, his car steaming heavily in [Read More]

Cale Lagroon: Following Dad’s Tire Tracks, One Lap at a Time

By Ben Deatherage SALINA, Kan. (May 15, 2025) — At 15 years old, Cale Lagroon is just starting to make a name for himself. But the Lagroon name? That’s already a staple in Kansas racing circles. Currently wrapping up his sophomore year at Salina South High School, Cale is diving headfirst into the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds—a daunting move for any young driver, but especially for one with a legacy to uphold. His father, Corey Lagroon, was a force to be reckoned with—a three-time Kansas State champion with four track titles at WaKeeney Speedway, three at RPM Speedway in Hays, two at Minneapolis Raceway, and a 2004 crown at Salina Speedway. Now, it’s Cale’s turn to take up the family torch, and he’s doing it in the unforgiving world of IMCA Modifieds. Cale Lagroon (right) and his father Corey watch the on-track action from the fence. Murty Survives Late Race Drama to Take Stock Car Dirt Duel

By Ben Deatherage STUART, Iowa (May 14, 2025) — Dallon Murty made the most of his father Damon’s ride Wednesday night at Stuart Speedway, capturing the $2,000 payday in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car portion of the Dynamic Drivelines Dirt Duel. The Chelsea native surged past Dillon Solum for the lead on a lap seven restart after Solum and Buck Schafroth battled intensely for the top spot in the opening laps. Schafroth, the two-time defending track champion, fended off several slider attempts from Solum before the Oregon transplant finally found a way around him on the seventh circuit. Murty appeared to be in control until a lap 21 caution erased his sizable advantage. A brush with oil in turn three nearly cost him the win as the fluid brought out the yellow, setting up a green-white-checkered finish. Despite the scare, Murty nailed the restart and maintained his line to secure his fourth EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season and third at Stuart. Behind Murty, Schafroth regrouped to finish second, narrowly holding off Mike [Read More]
