“Kruz Missile” Kepner Hits Target with PASS Victory at Selinsgrove

By Frank Buhrman & Stephanie Dodson SELINSGROVE, Pa. (Sept. 13, 2025) — Kruz Kepner doesn’t have much time to think about anything during the 10-minute ride from his home in Kreamer, Pa., to Selinsgrove Speedway, but he had a full week to think about being wrecked twice on the opening lap last weekend and wanting to erase the memory of that awful pair of races. His thinking — and his driving — did the job. Kepner scored his second Selinsgrove win of the season and fourth overall in River Valley Builders PA Sprint Series competition Saturday night, extending his lead in both the season’s PASS points standings and those for the track. Kepner started the feature in seventh and actually slipped back on the opening lap, but he quickly began to recover. He might not have gotten all the way to the front, though, had misfortune not struck veteran John Braim. Braim, who raced and won with PASS more than a decade ago before taking an extended break, had claimed a Laurel Highlands Sprint Series victory [Read More]

Humblet Holds Off Hubbard in Virginia Sprint Series Thriller

By Jim Haines HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 13, 2025) — Chris Humblet made changes after his heat race that proved to be the right ones, as he flew to the win at Langley Speedway with the Virginia Sprint Series. Jerald Harris and Humblet paced the field to green, with Humblet jumping out first and Harris settling into second as Billy Hubbard quickly moved into third. Humblet stayed strong out front while Harris struggled with his tire choice, allowing Hubbard to get by and set his sights on the leader. As the laps clicked off quickly on the pavement, Humblet began working traffic, and with five to go, Hubbard had closed right in. With two laps left, Hubbard made a strong charge and got within a couple of car lengths, but that was as close as he would come. Humblet flashed under the waving checkered flag for his second win of the season at Langley, with Hubbard second and Matthew Leach third.

Weaver Wins Commonwealth Clash AST Feature at Lernerville; Kornbau Secures AST Championship

By D.J. Johnson SARVER, Pa. (Sept. 12, 2025) — The Friday portion of the Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville Speedway featured the Allegheny Sprint Tour and attracted 20 RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car competitors to the Sarver oval. Kasey Weaver of Everett, Pa., led from the pole and never looked back, scoring his first career AST victory at Lernerville. Meanwhile, Hermitage’s Jeremy Kornbau wrapped up his first-ever Allegheny Sprint Tour championship. Weaver lined up on the inside front row, alongside second-year driver Hunter Hite. Weaver jumped out to the lead at the drop of the green, while Hite slipped back as Roman Jones moved into second. Trouble struck early when Timmy Bittner slowed on the backstretch and retired from the event. By mid-race, Weaver and Jones traded momentum at the front, with Jones inching ahead before Weaver powered back around on the outside to retake command. Behind them, the action heated up as Hite dropped to sixth, Steven Kenawell Jr. grabbed third, Kornbau advanced to fourth, and Jeff Weaver Jr. settled into fifth. The race was slowed on [Read More]

Hatlestad Hustles to Jeff Rucks Memorial Victory at Arlington

By Susan Allen ARLINGTON, Minn. (Sept. 13, 2025) — Clint Hatlestad took full advantage of his front row redraw position as he pulled away from the field on the start of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Arlington Raceway. A yellow came out when Mark Noble spun on lap three. On the restart, Jeremy Mills, who had started two rows behind Hatlestad, moved into second ahead of Chad Porter. Soon, Trent Loverude was challenging Mills, but contact on lap eight sent Mills into the infield and ended his night. Loverude kept going but lapped traffic kept him from making a serious bid at the lead, leaving Hatlestad a clear path to victory and the $1,050 Jeff Rucks Memorial win. It was Hatlestad’s sixth win of 2025 in the Razor Chassis North Central Region — all coming at Arlington. Loverude finished second with Porter in third. Jadan Bowling Captures Victory in the Proctor Family Memorial at Carolina Speedway

By Evan McCrory GASTONIA, S.C. (Sept. 6, 2025) — The Carolina Sprint Tour presented by GSR Chassis honored the lives of Theresa and Raymond Jr. with the Proctor Family Memorial at Carolina Speedway on Saturday night. 22 RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Cars filled the pit area on a warm late-summer evening, setting the stage for one of the most memorable events in tour history. When the green flag waved on the 25-lap feature, Nick Tucker led the field to the start, but an early caution for Biscuit Williams slowed the action. On the second attempt, Jake McLain surged to the front before surrendering the lead to Jadan Bowling on lap six. Moments later, McLain spun, bringing out another yellow. From there, the Holden Beach, North Carolina, pilot never looked back. Despite two red flags—one for Andy Stegall’s frontstretch flip on lap 14 and another for Josh Shantz’s crash in turn three—Bowling controlled the rest of the race and powered to his sixth career Carolina Sprint Tour victory. Tucker and George Loux completed the podium in second and [Read More]

Teenager Baldwin Wins Kevin Huntley Memorial in Thriller at Bloomington

By Pat Sullivan BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Sept. 5, 2025) — With a top prize of $10,000 up for grabs, the Kevin Huntley Memorial at Indiana’s Bloomington Speedway is, by definition, one of the most prestigious races on the RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car calendar. Yet, the significance of the event goes well beyond the hefty purse. Huntley, known in the racing world as “The Pup,” cut his teeth at Bloomington Speedway, where he was the track champion in 1986. The 4th annual Kevin Huntley Memorial was the most highly anticipated edition of the annual race to date. With Mother Nature interceding in July, the tilt was pushed back to Sept. 5, when 37 cars signed in, representing eight different states and the United Kingdom. Rod Henning and Whit Gastineau occupied the front row of the 30-lap feature, with Dillan Baldwin and Ashton Thompson next in line. Henning got the jump when the green flag fell and built a comfortable margin in the opening stages of the race, with Gastineau in hot pursuit. Henning later headed to the work [Read More]

Dodson Reigns at Path Valley

By Frank Buhrman SPRING RUN, Pa. (Sept. 7, 2025) — Doug  Doug Dodson’s record shows he can win on any sized track, but small has been beautiful this year for the Middletown veteran, who scored his second straight River Valley Builders PASS feature at the Path Valley Speedway bullring Saturday night. Scheduled to start fourth, Dodson moved up to the front row after initial occupants Timmy Bittner and Kruz Kepner tangled on the first attempted start. He then out-dragged PASS newcomer Rick Lafferty for the lead on the restart and never gave it up, despite repeated challenges from Lafferty. Lafferty came closest near the 20-lap mark of the 25-lap contest, but a caution for a spinning Tyler Schell removed traffic from the equation, and Dodson drove away to win by 1.854 seconds at the checkered flag. Mike Koehler, wheeling Jesse Storm’s no. 97S entry, advanced from eighth to third and earned hard charger honors. Jarrett Cavalet, who battled Koehler much of the way, settled for fourth. The victory made Dodson and the George Stevens-owned no. 20 the [Read More]
