Durbin Dominates Modifieds at Davenport

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 9, 2025) — Davenport Speedway played host to a thrilling Friesen Performance IMCA Modified showdown Friday night, as drivers battled for a nice $1000 to win payday and courtesy of Midwest Recyclers. With extra cash and Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational eligibility on the line, every lap was fiercely contested — and Brandon Durbin of Colona, Illinois, made the most of it. Durbin dominated his heat race to earn the pole for the 20-lap main event. Once the green flag dropped, he set a blistering pace and led every circuit to score his first Razor Chassis North Central Region win of 2025. With the win he is now eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational to be run at the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s later this summer. Second would go to Logan Veloz. Veloz started sixth and slowly moved forward during the second half of the race. Manning Rolls to Second IMCA Modified Win at Bakersfield

(May 10, 2025) – 2024 Bakersfield Speedway champion Gavyn Manning continued to build momentum towards a 2025 title, winning his second Friesen Performance IMCA Modified race of the season during round four at Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway on Saturday night. Manning and Austin Kiefer claimed the IMCA Modified heat races before Manning lined up tenth for the 30-lap, $750-to-win feature. Incoming second in points Brad Pounds tagged the turn four wall for a caution on lap nine. The restart allowed Kiefer and Manning to challenge race leader Justin Crockett. Kiefer slid Crockett in turn two and went wide, opening the bottom for Manning to drive underneath and lead lap 10. Manning led the rest of the way for the convincing win, his third in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region, followed by Kiefer and Bryan Clark. Olmstead Does It Again with Last-Lap Pass in Hobby Stocks

(May 9, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks produced a thrilling finish at Thomas County Speedway as Zach Olmstead made a dramatic last-lap pass to edge his brother Morgan Olmstead for the victory. Levi Jones led the early laps before the Olmstead brothers and Dylan Bell surged forward. Zach completed the winning move out of turn four, nipping Morgan at the line for his sixth win of the season in nine attempts in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region. Dylan Bell crossed the stripe in third after charging up eight positions. Burkhart Celebrates First Win as a “Grandpa” in Stock Cars “Gentle Giant” Troy Burkhart secured an emotional win in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars feature at Colby, his first victory as a new grandfather. Matt Sanders Surges from Ninth to Score SportMod Victory at CGS

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (May 10, 2025) — Matt Sanders charged from ninth to take command of the 25-lap Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod main event at Cottage Grove Speedway. The 2022 Oregon State and track champion steadily worked his way through the pack, eventually slipping past Garrett Craig for the lead on the backstretch of lap 10. Once in front, Sanders set a blistering pace and opened up a comfortable gap over the field. Craig, who led the opening laps, maintained a strong run in second, fending off multiple challengers as Sanders pulled away. The race for third became the focal point in the closing laps, with Aaron Bloom and Isaac Sanders battling door-to-door until Bloom secured the spot in the final circuits. Hagen Holds Off Wolla for Emotional Modified Victory in Williston Opener

(May 9, 2025) — Travis Hagen capped off a milestone week with a dominant performance in the 25-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event at Williston Basin Speedway. A week after he and his wife Makenzie welcomed a baby girl, the eight-time Williston track champion drove to his third win of the season in the Razor Chassis North Central Region. Chris Tuchscherer made an early charge, getting around Dalton Flory for second on lap six before the caution waved on lap 10. Hagen nailed the restart, but 2017 National champion Jason Wolla began his march to the front, battling past Tuchscherer to take over second. A final caution with seven laps to go set the stage for a showdown, but Hagen remained calm and composed, pulling away on the restart to secure the victory. Egbert Fends Off Late Challenges to Capture $3,015 Baby Blue Harcrow Memorial at HOT

Egbert’s first Baby Blue Harcrow Memorial win at Heart O’ Texas Speedway didn’t come easy, but the 2008 Friesen Performance IMCA Modified National champion rose to the occasion in the $3,015-to-win 30-lap Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature. Matt Guillaume, a three-time EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region titleholder, dominated the early laps after starting from the pole, while Egbert moved into second on lap 7 after slipping past reigning track champion Paul White. Guillaume built a comfortable lead but hit traffic shortly after, giving Egbert a chance to close in. A series of mid-race cautions bunched the field, and on lap 20, Egbert muscled past Guillaume to lead on the backstretch. Reigning Baby Blue winner Cody Smith surged into second, with two-time defending Baby Blue winner Jeffrey Abbey rocketing to third after Guillaume drifted high. Hogge Stays Hot with Ocean Modified Win

(May 9, 2025) — The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event at Ocean Speedway saw Jonathan Hagio set the pace early on, until Jim Pettit II drove by after a restart. Bobby Hogge, in the Paul Gugliemoni provided no. 2 entry, then climbed into second and began to hound the rear of the leader. On lap 9 the duo was racing nose to tail, which then saw Pettit get turned to bring out a caution. Hogge, from Salinas, led the remaining distance to grab the win ahead of Robert Marsh and Cody Burke. Hogge’s third win of the season came at his third different track in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region. A healthy field of Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods competed on Friday night with 19 total entries signing in. D.J. Ryland Sweeps Soares Memorial with SportMod and Stock Car Wins at Antioch

(May 3, 2025) — Fred Ryland of Brentwood won the 20-lap Karl Chevrolet IMCA SportMod main event at Antioch Speedway during the Soares Memorial paying tribute to former promoters of the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds 3/8-mile oval. This was the second win of the season for the three-time division champion. It was also his 41st career win in this division. Counting his Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature win earlier in the evening, Ryland now has 78 combined victories at the track. Al Johnson set the early pace ahead of Ryland and Trent Golden. A low pass in turn four of the fourth lap gained Ryland the lead from Johnson. State point later Danny Wagner slipped into third on lap 8 and began pressuring Johnson, who was trailing Ryland by a straightaway.  However, Ryland’s big lead was erased by a lap 10 yellow flag. Tocci Cruises to Second Straight Modified Win at ECS

By Ben Deatherage GREAT FALLS, Mont. (May 3, 2025) — Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds took center stage at Electric City Speedway for a 20-lap main event. Kolby Hannah managed to outmaneuver Jordan Tocci to lead the opening circuit, but Tocci, the two-time reigning Gallatin Speedway champion from Three Forks, swiftly reclaimed the top spot on lap four. From there, Tocci began to pull away as Hannah and David Davis battled for second. A mid-race caution on lap 10 regrouped the field, but Tocci proved untouchable on the restart, driving away to secure his second straight victory at ECS and in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region.
