Sabin Sails to First Hobby Stock Win of 2025 at Boone

By Coty Mallicoat BOONE, Iowa (May 10, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks were the final race of the night at Boone Speedway, and it would be a wild one at “Iowa’s Action Track.” From early on, it appeared that John Watson and Joe Doran had the fastest cars on the track. However, as the race was sorted out, they both could see the leaders out front, but several caution flags continued to reset their momentum. Watson, who started 12th, and Doran, who started 18th, failed to get to the lead before the race’s end. Meanwhile, Kolby Sabin and Cory VanderWilt worked up from their fourth row starting positions to the front. McDonald Bags Big Bucks With First Ever Win At CJ Speedway 

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (May 9, 2025) —  The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks raced for a $750 top prize Friday night at CJ Speedway, located on the Louisa County Fairgrounds. Jason Schutterle took early command and led the majority of the race, but as the laps wound down, the lead pack tightened to four drivers all vying for the bonus money. Schutterle, Kale Hemsley, Corey VanDerwilt, and young Preston McDonald entered turn four on the final circuit in a four-car battle for the win. Somehow, McDonald emerged from the pack and edged out Schutterle by a bumper to capture his first career B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region victory in thrilling fashion. The top four were separated by less than a car length at the finish, with Hemsley taking third and VanDerwilt finishing fourth. Miller Rides High Line to Late Model Win at 34 Raceway

Jeremy Pundt led the early circuits, building a comfortable lead before a caution midway through the $1,000-to-win, 25-lap main reset the field and erased his advantage. Miller, the reigning Iowa State champion, capitalized on a mid-race restart to power around Jeremy Pundt on the high side, taking command on lap 14. After George Motto led the opening two laps, a caution bunched the field and allowed Volk to surge to the front on the restart. Cory Probst made a last-lap attempt to slide under Volk but couldn’t complete the pass, settling for second. Wedelstadt Holds Off Czarapata for First Modified Win of 2025

(May 9, 2025) — Tony Wedelstadt withstood a last-lap charge from former track champion Jason Czarapata to claim his first Friesen Performance IMCA Modified win of the season at Luxy Raceway. The Combined Locks racer launched to the lead at the drop of the green flag and built a sizable advantage as Czarapata settled into second. While Wedelstadt looked dominant up top, Czarapata began reeling him in during the closing laps, setting up a thrilling finish. Czarapata, the 2014 Luxy Raceway and 2012 Wisconsin State champion, made a bold move on the final circuit, but Wedelstadt held his ground, narrowly edging out the veteran racer at the line. Janke Dominates Modifieds for First Win on New Shawano Surface

The new surface produced multi-groove racing, little dust, and plenty of speed as the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds headlined the action-packed night. Tanner Janke made the most of the fresh track, taking control early and holding off a strong charge from Lucas Lamberies to secure his first Razor Chassis North Central Region win of 2025. Janke, who started on the front row alongside his father Gary Janke, jumped to the lead and built a sizable advantage before the first of two cautions flew for a spin by Jason Yeager in turn four. Vanover Outlasts Chaos to Win Third Stock Car Feature at Eagle

(May 10, 2025) — Eagle Raceway hosted an action-packed Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature that saw Kyle Vanover prevail in a wild, caution-filled race, capturing the victory after a flurry of lead changes and intense battles throughout the 1/3-mile oval.  It was the Beatrice driver’s third win of the season in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region and his second win at Eagle in 2025. Ryan Gilland jumped to the early lead holding off challenges from Dylan Haney, Mike Scheinost, and Cash Beckman in the opening laps. Beckman moved into fourth on lap three, then advanced to second by lap five as Kyle Vanover followed suit to take third. With extra cash and Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational eligibility on the line, every lap was fiercely contested — and Brandon Durbin of Colona, Illinois, made the most of it. Durbin dominated his heat race to earn the pole for the 20-lap main event. Once the green flag dropped, he set a blistering pace and led every circuit to score his first Razor Chassis North Central Region win of 2025. Manning Rolls to Second IMCA Modified Win at Bakersfield

(May 10, 2025) – 2024 Bakersfield Speedway champion Gavyn Manning continued to build momentum towards a 2025 title, winning his second Friesen Performance IMCA Modified race of the season during round four at Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway on Saturday night. Manning and Austin Kiefer claimed the IMCA Modified heat races before Manning lined up tenth for the 30-lap, $750-to-win feature. Incoming second in points Brad Pounds tagged the turn four wall for a caution on lap nine. The restart allowed Kiefer and Manning to challenge race leader Justin Crockett.
