Aupperle scores first win as CJ Speedway beats the heat

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (June 21, 2024) – It was a hot one on Friday night but the racing action went on as scheduled as the CJ Speedway hosted Weikert Appliance Night at the races. Despite the heat a good crowd witnessed an action packed night of racing on the 4/10 mile dirt track. It is always special to see a driver score his first-ever win and that was the case as Nick Aupperle turned his love and dedication of racing into his first-ever visit to the Four Corners Victory lane following the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature. Aupperle took the lead on the third lap of the main from early leader Joel Payne and went on to score the 16 -ap feature win. Aupperle held off the heavy hitters in the SportMod class lap after lap. IMCA Wild West Speedweek sees repeat winners at Cottage Grove

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (June 20, 2024) – After taking a night off, the Wild West Speedweek returned to action and Collen Winebarger, Ethan Killingsworth and Chase Berkeley all returned to victory lane following their Thursday IMCA feature wins at Cottage Grove Speedway. Winebarger won his second Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature of the week, Killingsworth collected a second straight Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod checkered while Berkeley topped a third consecutive IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event. The night three winner at Coos Bay, Winebarger pocketed his second $1,000 of the week after winding his way to the front following a lap three restart. He hit lapped traffic the 25th time around the track but that did not slow down his quick pace. Winebarger dominated what became a 33-lap green run to win by more than four seconds. National champions, top 10 drivers in five IMCA divisions earn awards from Longacre

BOONVILLE, Ind. (June 21, 2024) – Longacre Racing Products recognizes the most accomplished drivers in five IMCA divisions this season. The Boonville, Ind., company is a division of the AFCO Performance Group, manufactures gauges, scales, specialty tools and chassis setup equipment, and gives a combination of product and product certificate awards to Friesen Performance IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Late Model, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod and Smiley’s Racing Products IMCA Southern SportMod competitors. 14 new to Fast Shafts All-Star eligible list

VINTON, Iowa (June 21, 2024) – Another 14 Friesen Performance IMCA Modified drivers have raced their respective ways to eligibility for Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying. Eric Barnes was best at East Moline Speedway’s Ronnie Weedon Memorial and Grey Ferrando topped Yreka Speedway’s Biehn Memorial. Winning Wild West Speedweek main events were Bricen James and Collen Winebarger. Benji LaCrosse won big at 141 Speedway’s Clash at the Creek while Kyle Strickler collected rich Twin 25 checkers at Beaver Dam Raceway. Cody Leonard paced the STIMS show at I-37 Speedway and Dallon Murty was a Monday Madness winner at Independence Motor Speedway. James repeats Wild West Speedweek heroics with win at Douglas County

(June 18, 2024) – Bricen James and Chase Berkeley both raced back to victory lane while Ethan Killingsworth captured his first checkered flag of the 2024 IMCA Wild West Speedweek Tuesday at Douglas County Dirtrack. James, who’d topped the opening night show at Yreka, banked $1,000 for his Friesen Performance IMCA Modified victory while Berkeley followed his Monday Coos Bay win with an impressive run from 11th starting. Killingsworth paced the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. A pair of former Speedweek champions made up the front row in the Modified tilt, with Troy Morris III and Kellen Chadwick fighting for the initial lead. Morris used the top of the track and beat Chadwick to the line to pace the field. Chadwick settled into second with Jacob Mallet Jr. and James in pursuit. BOONVILLE, Ind. (June 20, 2024) – AFCO begins a fourth decade of IMCA support, continuing awards for drivers in six divisions in 2024. The high performance shock, suspension, cooling and brake products manufacturer again gives those awards based on regional point standings for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, and on national standings for IMCA Sunoco Late Models, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and Smiley’s Racing Products IMCA Southern SportMods. Winebarger, Sanders, Berkeley top Wild West features at Coos Bay

Winebarger completed his drive from fifth staring to the front on the 25th circuit, then outran Bricen James for the $1,000 Friesen Performance IMCA Modified checkers and qualifying eligibility for the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Timothy Allerdings was a strong third. Lawrence O’Conner and Tyler Blankenship completed the top five. Perfect coastal weather greeted Speedweek competitors for the Monday night show. Larson, Merkes, Soppe, Hunter are IMCA winners at Maquoketa

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 15, 2024) – Chalk up Saturday IMCA feature wins at Maquoketa Speedway for Jeff Larson, Kyle Merkes, Tyler Soppe and Sheldon Hunter. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature saw defending track champion Larson add another feature win to his 2024 resume. Larson shot to the top of the track from his third row start and quickly worked to the front. Larson was able to get by early race leader Mark Schulte as the race closed in on the halfway mark. Charlie Mohr also found the high side to his liking advancing from a fourth row start to move into second late in the race. Sauerman scores first Boone win of season

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (June 15, 2024) – It was Farley’s Pre-owned Night at Boone Speedway on Saturday, and despite the gloomy forecast of rain/storms, it was no issue for the racing program and in particular for Cory Sauerman who took his first local Friesen Performance IMCA Modified win of the year. Doug Smith took the honors in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for the second time, and also making return visits to victory lane were Cam Reimers in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods, Eric Knutson in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Ben George in the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites. The Mod Lites rolled to the track first for their 15-lap feature event.
