Garrigan does it again while Mass dominates at Black Hills

By Ben Deatherage RAPID CITY, S. D. – The high-horsepower half-mile clay oval of Black Hills Speedway roared to life again on Friday, for the third race of the 2024 campaign. Competitors in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Modified Hobby Stocks were in action. At the drop of the green flag in the Modified main, Eric Mass immediately went to work and took the race lead from starting third going into the first corner. The Rapid City driver was looking for redemption from the week before when mechanical woes forced him to retire early. Whether out in the open or dealing with a bit of lapped traffic, Mass dominated the field to the checkers. It was his second victory of the season. Brent Nielsen and Nate Hand were second and third, respectively. Mills, Jerovetz, Fett, Krug are victors at Britt

By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (May 24, 2024) – Though the area was water-logged, Hancock County Speedway roared to life Friday night with great racing action sponsored by Toot’s Trucking and Pritchard Family Auto Stores. In the Stars, Stripes and Sirens special, three first-time IMCA winners at the track in 2024 graced victory lane. Jeremy Mills used the top side of the track to score his first win at the speedway this season in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. He fended off a couple strong charges by second place finisher Tim Ward who was making time on the inside through turns one and two. Already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, Mills banked $1,000 for his career 137th win in the class. CPT Racing Manufacturing renews IMCA awards with expansion plans in near future

Early restart sparks Craver at Electric City

By Ben Deatherage GREAT FALLS, Mont. (May 18, 2024) – Electric City Speedway fired things back up on Saturday night, with a thriller of a Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event. Devon Jadwin set the tone, leading early before a lap three restart resulting from what proved to be from the feature’s lone caution bunched the field up. This allowed Cory Craver to propel himself to the top position, setting the stage for a thrilling battle. While Craver started to waltz away from the rest of the pack, Jadwin, last week’s winner Tyler Leach and Cody Kuglin fought over second. Under the green flag racing conditions, Craver found his rhythm on the high side of the track. Jadwin held off Leach and Kuglin but a new challenger emerged in the form of Kolby Hannah for the runner-up position. Hannah maneuvered around Jadwin and then closed the gap between himself and the leader. James dominates at Willamette

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. (May 18, 2024) – Bricen James was Dominant with a capital “D” Saturday night at Willamette Speedway. The former Shaw Race Cars Western Region champion, most recently the May 10 winner at Douglas County Dirtrack, topped his heat and ran second in the trophy dash before notching Friesen Performance IMCA Modified career win number 58. Trevor La Barge set the pace early, reaching a comfortable distance ahead of the rest of the field. As the race stayed green, James got into a great rhythm and began to give chase down the leader. By lap eight, James overtook La Barge to obtain the race lead and then checked out, ahead of a dogfight for a second involving La Barge, Grey Ferrando and Matthew Drager. A late caution injected a potential twist into the finish, but James quickly reestablished a sizable ap over the rest of the pack. The battle for second continued to sizzle as Ferrando and Drager continued their fight. Ferrando secured the second spot, with Drager finishing third.

Killingsworth, Allerdings score Saturday wins at Yreka

(May 18, 2024) – Yreka Speedway capped off its doubleheader weekend with Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods filling the Saturday night card and put on some incredible racing. The Northern SportMods witnessed a nail-biting main event. Gabriel Chavez engaged in a fierce battle for the lead with Austin Petray and hometown hero Bo Crebs right from the start before Petray and Crebs tangled and were forced to retire early. Back to green, Chavez was under heavy fire from Steven Sanders, who beat him at the line in a mad dash for first place to pace the field for the second circuit. The pass, however, was negated due to another caution. On the subsequent restart, Sanders maneuvered around Chavez to take the lead on the officially completed second lap. County fair checkers are IMCA first for Connelly

(May 18, 2024) – Antioch Speedway fans were treated to two nights of racing during the annual Contra Costa County Fair with Saturday offered a trio of exciting IMCA sanctioned races. This included the first win for Dylan Connelly in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main event, Kellen Chadwick in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Travis Dutra in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Connelly had come close on multiple occasions during the previous two IMCA SportMod seasons. On Saturday, he refused to let any of the yellow flag situations cost him a well-earned win. Connelly took the lead from Kelly Campanile with a turn four pass on the second lap. Jason Ryan Jr. quickly settled into second. Fred Ryland settled into third on the fourth lap but he spun for a lap six yellow flag. Towns dominates in IMCA Modified triumph at Cottage Grove

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (May 18, 2024) – Cottage Grove Speedway was abuzz with excitement on Saturday, May 18 for Armed Forces Night, a special event presented by Shriner’s. When the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds took to the track for their finale, Curtis Towns made the most of his front row starting position. Known for his quick starts, Towns shot off like a cannon and stayed in control despite an early caution. An early caution slowed things down but couldn’t dampen the intense competition. Defending Oregon State champion Carter Patterson pushed hard to overtake Towns couldn’t quite find a way to the front and the leader continued to pull away. This intensified the second-place race as Jake Mayden battled hard with Patterson. Mayden eventually obtained the runner-up spot and then began to chase down Towns despite a big gap separating the two.
