Whisler wins Wednesday bout at Cottage Grove

(Aug. 21, 2024) – Eston Whisler, who was on the verge of victory at Cottage Grove Speedway earlier this month, was granted redemption in the fifth leg of the prestigious Midweek Mayhem Series. He earned his first win of the season in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds after making the pass for the lead around the midway point and holding on to the coveted top spot after a late-race restart. The main event was a showcase of intense competition. Kevin Williamson set a rapid pace in the early stages but the race was far from decided. The pack remained close due to two cautions, and the tension escalated when Whisler began his impressive run on the bottom after a restart with eight complete. Maquoketa Speedway hosts season championships this Saturday

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (Aug. 22, 2024) – This Saturday, Aug. 24, Maquoketa Speedway will host the final point races of the 2024 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season as Dynamic Tube of Maquoketa presents season championships. A full night of racing will include all regular classes headlined by the IMCA Sunoco Late Models. Hot laps will take to the quarter-mile at 6 p.m. with racing to follow. Following Saturday night’s racing action, the crew from Darkside Promotions will host two special events at Maquoketa Speedway. The first will be the All Star Classic with two big days of racing on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13 and 14. The Friday night portion of the All Star Classic will include a special night of racing in memory of Kelly Meyer, a very popular driver at Maquoketa who lost his life in a tragic motorcycle accident. Morris has prescription for special win at Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Aug. 17, 2024) – Troy Morris III had the right prescription for winning the race dedicated to the memory of The Race Doctor. Morris led 46 of 50 Friesen Performance IMCA Modified circuits Saturday at hometown Bakersfield Speedway, topping the Mike Moshier Classic ahead of Gavyn Manning. The win, Morris’ 10th this season and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying sixth, paid $1,200. Moshier, aka The Race Doctor, was the long-time announcer at Bakersfield and died in 2015 at the age of 69. “This win was special,” said Morris. “I grew up listening to him (Moshier) announce at the track. He called my first win and interviewed me when I was six and racing a mini dwarf.” Morris got to the front early from his inside row three start and built a seven second advantage before the scheduled stoppage at lap 25. Turnbull triumphant at inaugural Monte Lundy Memorial

His masterful maneuver around the halfway point, allowing him to take the lead, was a sight to behold. Fending off a challenge after the final restart, Turnbull, the maestro from Estevan, Sask., scored an impressive Friesen Performance $3,014 payday at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds. His win holds a special significance as it was a racer from Estevan who won the first Lundy Memorial, just as Lundy had won the first IMCA Modified track title at Estevan Motor Speedway in 2000. “This means a lot to me. All-Star qualifier for Stock Cars on season championship night at Beaver Dam

BEAVER DAM, Wis. (Aug. 22, 2024) – Champions will be crowned in three IMCA divisions while the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner earns $750 and becomes B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational eligible next Tuesday at Beaver Dam Raceway. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods also crown champions at the Aug. 27 show, which doubles as Driver Appreciation Night and is sponsored by Shepy’s Auto Body of Beaver Dam. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4:30 p.m. Racing is at 6:30 p.m. Pit passes are $30. Spectator admission is $25 a carload or $13 for an individual.

By popular demand, IMCA Modifieds return to Fayette County for Fall Finale

WEST UNION, Iowa (Aug. 20, 2024) – Popular demand brings Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds back to West Union on Friday, Aug. 23, opening night of the inaugural Fall Finale at Fayette County Speedway. Modifieds will race for $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100 to start their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualified. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Razor Chassis North Central Region and Iowa State points will be awarded. The sanctioned division and the Rage Chassis 40 special have become fixtures during the Fayette County Fair in July. “The IMCA drivers all wanted to come back here for another show” on the 3/8-mile dirt oval, explained fair board race committee member Brian Boess, “so we did it.” “The fans liked them, too.” Hot laps on Friday are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. Pearce prevails at Antioch’s Hetrick Memorial

By Candice Martin ANTIOCH, Calif. (Aug. 17, 2024) – A driver with a knack for coming up big at big events did just that again Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. Andrew Pearce won the 29-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Antioch’s ninth annual Hetrick Memorial, earning $1,500. The checkers flew ahead of Bobby Hogge IV and Kellen Chadwick. Pearce had a front row start and bolted into the lead at the green flag ahead of Andrew Peckham and Hogge. Pearce build a comfortable lead as Hogge and Peckham battled fiercely for second. Hogge grabbed the position on the fourth circuit. The yellow flag waved on lap 12. Pearce continued to lead Hogge and Peckham on the restart. Peckham gave Hogge some serious pressure for the next few circuits, but Hogge kept his cool and held the position. Chadwick made an inside pass in turn two on lap 21 to gain third. Champions crowned at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (Aug. 18, 2024) – Season championship feature racing was held Sunday night at Benton County Speedway and track champions were crowned in six divisions at The Bullring. The best finish of the night came in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Christie Door Company. John Oliver Jr. wrapped up the track title by taking the green flag in that 20-lapper, but he ran second for much of the event to Braden Richards. Richards protected the top side of the speedway while Oliver pressured throughout the entirety of the event. With Oliver inching closer in the low groove, Richards took the low side to deny his efforts in the final set of turns on the final lap. Richards drifted to the middle of the track exiting turn four, allowing Oliver to draw alongside the leader coming to the checkers. PARIS, Texas (Aug. 19, 2024) – Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds make their first visit to Rocket Raceway Park Aug. 29-31, racing for shares of a rich purse to be paid out at the 10th annual Bryan Mize Memorial. Winner of the Saturday night main event earns $10,000 and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility while taking the green flag in the big show pays a minimum of $1,000. “We know there are a lot of high paying shows out there.
