Season Opener and Cliff Chambers Memorial Set for Friday at Marshalltown Speedway

By Jerry Vansickel MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Apr. 27, 2025) — Mother Nature looks to be a race fan this Friday night as Marshalltown Speedway kicks off its 62nd Annual Season Opener, highlighted by the annual UAW Local 893 Cliff Chambers Memorial. Each year, the event honors one of the great promoters in the track’s storied history. Cliff Chambers was instrumental in keeping weekly racing alive on the famed 1/4-mile high-banked clay oval for many years, and this memorial race continues his lasting legacy. The chase to Championship Friday begins in all of our weekly divisions: Karl Chevrolet IMCA Modifieds, Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods, Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks, Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts, and Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites. Tocci Closes Out Electric City Doubleheader with Saturday Score

(Apr. 26, 2025) — Jordan Tocci made a statement on the second night of the 2025 Montana Spring Roundup, powering to victory in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Electric City Speedway. The win marked Tocci’s first of the year in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region and capped off a competitive season-opening doubleheader at the 3/8-mile Great Falls oval. Sixteen-year-old Tyler Leach led the opening lap of Saturday’s 20-lap main before Tocci and Cody Blixt entered the fray. Tocci, the two-time defending Gallatin Speedway champion from Three Forks, surged to the front on lap two just before a caution halted Leach’s run. (Apr. 26, 2025) — Ethan Killingsworth made it two straight wins to start the season in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region, putting on a dominant performance Saturday night at Cottage Grove Speedway’s 25-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. The Yreka, California, driver secured the lead on the opening lap after a fierce battle with Kevin Williamson, who pilots the Paul and Maria Culp-owned entry. Killingsworth, in his rookie IMCA Modified campaign after winning Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod titles at both Southern Oregon and Yreka in 2024, was flawless on the restart after an early caution on lap 3. Morris Steals Late Model Win in Final Turn Drama

Travis Denning appeared poised to go back-to-back, but a thrilling final-turn scramble in traffic opened the door for Mitch Morris. As the leaders split a lapped car coming to the checkers, Morris shot low while Denning went high, with Logan Veloz charging right behind them. Morris edged ahead at the line for his first win of the 2025 campaign, with Veloz nipping Denning for the runner-up spot. (Apr. 26, 2025) — A longtime competitor in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Chad Andersen broke through in a big way Saturday night at Eagle Raceway, scoring his first career win in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car division. Andersen took over the top spot on lap 10 after a thrilling, multi-lap battle with John Anderson, then held off late pressure to secure the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory. Anderson, who led early, remained a threat throughout the 20-lap contest, while Mason Richards raced his way into third. Morris Rockets to STIMS Season-Opening Win at Texana

By Ben Deatherage EDNA, Texas (Apr. 26, 2025) — Chris Morris launched the defense of his South Texas IMCA Modified Series title in dominant fashion Saturday night, picking up a $1,500 victory in the 20-lap season opener at Texana Raceway Park. Morris, the 2022 Cotton Bowl Speedway track champion from Thorndale, outdueled Cody Leonard at the drop of the green and took off like a rocket ship in clean air. A caution just past the midway point brought the field back together, but Morris executed a perfect restart and kept up the pace through multiple subsequent yellows. A final caution with four laps remaining couldn’t slow his momentum, and Morris powered away to secure his third career STIMS triumph—becoming the third different winner at Texana in as many tour events held at the ¼-mile oval. Morris also clocked the fastest lap of the race, earning an extra $750 bonus for his performance. Leonard finished second, with two-time I-37 Speedway champion Chad Doyon completing the podium in third.

Wells Earns First Stock Car Win at CJ Speedway

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (Apr. 25, 2025) – 18-year-old Dana Wells of Wilton is only in his sophomore season in a race car, but the young man has shown that he will be a strong contender in the very tough Sunoco IMCA Stock Car class. Wells advanced from a third-row start and set his sights on race leader Austin Kemper. The two young drivers battled for several laps before Wells took control and raced on to win his career first in the division and the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region. Kemper was second, and eighth-starting Dustin Vis came through the pack to finish in the third spot. A couple of local hot shoes put on a good show in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds.
