48th Annual Yankee Dirt Track Classic Set for August 28–29 at 300 Raceway

By Ben Deatherage FARLEY, Iowa (Aug. 13, 2025) — The 48th annual Yankee Dirt Track Classic, presented by GTG Peterbilt – Cedar Rapids, takes the green Thursday and Friday, August 28–29, at 300 Raceway. Two big nights of racing will showcase some of the region’s best, with large payouts on the line and music after the races both nights. Thursday’s program includes $1,200 to win and $150 to start for the Friesen Performance IMCA Late Models, $1,000 to win and $100 to start for the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, $1,000 to win and $100 to start for the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, $500 to win and $75 to start for the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods, and $300 to win and $40 to start for the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks. Murty Muscles Past Carter for Stock Car Thriller

By Kaden Krebs MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car main event at Marshalltown Speedway was the showstopper of the night, going 20 hard-fought laps. Ethan Atcheson and Dillon Solum brought the field to green, with Solum pacing the opening lap before a quick caution with 19 to go. Solum, Brayton Carter, and Dallon Murty staged an early three-way fight for the top spot until another yellow at lap 16 bunched them again. Carter pounced on the restart, taking the lead with 15 to go, but Murty stayed in striking distance. After a final caution with five laps left, Murty and Carter pulled away from the pack, with David Brandiss and Jimmy Gustin joining the scrap in the closing laps. Mills Masters Modifieds for $2,000 Schattschneider Memorial Payday at Algona

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (Aug. 7, 2025) — Chaz Baca Jr. and Joel Rust brought the 21-car Friesen Performance IMCA Modified field to the flagstand for the green at Kossuth County Speedway on night four of the 2025 Iowa Speedweek and the Schattschneider Memorial. Baca led the first three laps around the Algona oval before Jeremy Mills powered into the lead on lap four. Once out front, Mills built a commanding advantage and never looked back, collecting his fourth feature win of the season at Algona and a $2,000 payday. The victory was also his 11th of 2025 in the Razor Chassis North Central Region. Tim Ward finished second for $1,200, with Baca third and $1,100 richer. Maughlin Grabs Household Victory at RPM

(Aug. 9, 2025) — The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod feature at RPM Speedway had a little extra on the line besides a trip to victory lane — household bragging rights. Polesitter Brianna Maughlin jumped out front from the get-go and quickly had company from her boyfriend, Kamren Gruber, who shot into second. The two traded close-quarters laps with Gruber peeking low a few times but unable to get alongside. A mid-race caution for spins by Jack Kirchoff and Justin Meserve bunched the field, but Maughlin stayed poised and powered away on the restart. She scored her second win of the season and third of her career, with Gruber settling for second and Chad Dolan in third. Starting inside the second row, Ryan quickly powered to the front and led the remainder of the race, taking the win ahead of seventh-starting Logan Veloz. The points battle came into the night with Jake Morris holding a slim two-point lead over Steve Johnson. When the checkers waved, Morris finished one spot behind Johnson — enough to claim the IMCA Late Model track championship by a single point. Ryan’s victory was his third of the season, each coming at a different track. By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2025) — Season Championship Night at CJ Speedway also featured completion of the Larry Richardson Memorial features, postponed from July 24 during the Louisa County Fair. Those memorial races were run first, followed by the night’s championship events. In the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Logan Anderson recorded a clean sweep, winning both the Larry Richardson Memorial and Season Championship features. Kurt Kile chased Anderson to the checkers in the first main, with Dan Brockert finishing third. In the Season Championship feature, Anderson again took the win, this time ahead of Scott Brau. Kile broke early in the championship race but had built enough of a points cushion to win the track title by just one point over Anderson. Gaylord Tops Friday Night of 1000 Stars at Britt

By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2025) — Tripp Gaylord started the 31-lap, 31st annual Night of 1000 Stars IMCA Modified main at Hancock County Speedway — paying $2,000 to win — on the outside of row four. The event also served as the fifth race of the 2025 Iowa Speedweek. Gaylord steadily marched his way to the front, settling in behind early race leader Brandon Beckendorf. The top two swapped first and second several times until Gaylord assumed command in the later stages. Their run through lapped traffic got intense, but Gaylord held on to take the checkers for his second Night of 1000 Stars win, his first coming in 2021. Beckendorf finished second, followed by Cody Laney, Clint Hatlestad, and Kelly Shryock. Veloz Scores Third Davenport Late Model Victory of 2025

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2025) — Logan Veloz became the first Sunoco IMCA Late Model driver to earn three victories this season at Davenport Speedway. After a long lay-off for the Mississippi Valley Fair, it was back to racing at the facility. Veloz started seventh and moved up to third after five laps. He was in second by lap nine and passed Clay Simpson for the lead on lap fifteen. The win was Veloz’s 10th overall of the year in the Late Model,. Bryce Garnhart would also pass Simpson in the final laps for second. Simpson held on for third. (Aug. 8, 2025) — In Brewster, Minnesota — a small town of just over 500 residents with deep railroad roots — Cory Probst has built a racing career that’s anything but small. The driver of the No. 75C Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock reached an extraordinary milestone on August 2 at Arlington Raceway, claiming his 300th feature win. For Probst, the historic night came on familiar ground. His 100th win was at Arlington on June 23, 2018. His 200th win came at the same track on June 18, 2022.
