Deschamp Claims $4000 John Gaule Memorial Glory at Nodak

By Ben Deatherage MINOT, N.D. (Aug. 10, 2025) — Westhope’s Gabriel Deschamp topped the inaugural John Gaule Memorial at Nodak Speedway on Sunday night, pocketing $4,000 in the biggest Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod race in North Dakota. The 40-lap main event honored the late John Gaule and drew a talent-packed field of 48 entries from across the state and beyond for its first running. Three-time Estevan Motor Speedway champion and 2025 Tougher Than Dirt Tour titlist Leevi Runge paced the opening laps after starting from the pole. Reigning North Dakota State champion Keenan Glasser powered into the lead on lap nine, but just three circuits later it was 2025 Nodak Speedway champion Chad Stratchen taking over. The trio traded positions through the middle stages, with Deschamp — the two-time Tougher Than Dirt Tour champion and reigning Thunder Mountain and Estevan Motor Speedways title holder — joining the fray by the halfway mark. A three-wide tangle among the leaders with less than 10 laps to go shook up the order and gave Stratchen the lead [Read More]

Dodson Scores 2025’s First PASS Three-peat With Path Valley Score

By Frank Buhrman PATH VALLEY, Pa. (Aug. 9, 2025) — Doug Dodson became the River Valley Builders PA Sprint Series’ first three-time winner of 2025 Saturday night with a wire-to-wire victory in the extra-purse 25-lap feature at Path Valley Speedway. The veteran racer from Middletown, who also owns wins in other sprint divisions, won his heat race in the George Stevens no. 20. He then drew the pole for the feature and jumped out to the initial lead, but after a late caution, had to fend off a determined bid from Kyle Hart to seal the win. The checkered flag made Dodson PASS’s winningest driver so far this season, ahead of four other two-time winners and seven racers with a single victory. The win also came with one of the year’s biggest paydays for PASS competitors. Path Valley co-promoter and veterinarian Dr. Zach Crouse had increased the purse for last month’s Dr. Crouse’s Night of Power program, which was rained out and rescheduled for Saturday as another Dr. Crouse promotion. Hart, who had started fourth, quickly [Read More]

Maughlin Grabs Household Victory at RPM

By Sheldon Wickwar HAYS, Kan. (Aug. 9, 2025) — The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod feature at RPM Speedway had a little extra on the line besides a trip to victory lane — household bragging rights. Polesitter Brianna Maughlin jumped out front from the get-go and quickly had company from her boyfriend, Kamren Gruber, who shot into second. The two traded close-quarters laps with Gruber peeking low a few times but unable to get alongside. A mid-race caution for spins by Jack Kirchoff and Justin Meserve bunched the field, but Maughlin stayed poised and powered away on the restart. She scored her second win of the season and third of her career, with Gruber settling for second and Chad Dolan in third. Schwien Outduels Compact Field for Sixth Win The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact main event saw Jacob Kappel and Kyle Mortensen lead the early charge, but the heavy hitters soon arrived. Connor Schwien, Gage Porter, and Kiowa Higdon muscled their way into contention, swapping positions in a fierce three-way fight. Contact and close calls were [Read More]

Ryan Rules Late Models at Maquoketa

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (Aug. 9, 2025) — Infrequent visitor Matt Ryan dominated the 25-lap Season Championship feature at Maquoketa Speedway for the Sunoco IMCA Late Models. Starting inside the second row, Ryan quickly powered to the front and led the remainder of the race, taking the win ahead of seventh-starting Logan Veloz. The points battle came into the night with Jake Morris holding a slim two-point lead over Steve Johnson. When the checkers waved, Morris finished one spot behind Johnson — enough to claim the IMCA Late Model track championship by a single point. Ryan’s victory was his third of the season, each coming at a different track. Diercks Delivers in Modifieds The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds Season race came down to a head-to-head battle between Spencer Diercks and Charlie Mohr. Both drivers ran the high side with precision, but a slight bobble by Mohr opened the door for Diercks to take the lead and drive away to victory. Mohr held second ahead of Justin Veloz. By Ben Deatherage BANKS, Ore. (Aug. 9, 2025) — Albany’s Bricen James became the first repeat winner of the Whisler Construction Banks Mod Nationals presented by Schram Brothers Excavating, scoring his second career win in the event with a $2,000-to-win 40-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature triumph at Sunset Speedway Park. The two-time reigning IMCA Wild West Speedweek champion and 2019 Shaw Race Cars Western Region champion wheeled the Schram Motorsports no. 13 to his eighth win of the season in the region and first at the Banks Bullring in 2025. Six-time track champion and 2024 Oregon State titleholder Craig Cassell paced the opening lap before James used the bottom groove to take over down the backstretch. The first caution slowed the pace on lap six, but once the field settled in, James stretched his advantage and reached lapped traffic on lap 20. Another yellow at lap 23 interrupted a spirited battle for second between Cassell and four-time Washington State champion Tyson Blood, who held the spot at the stoppage. James again pulled away on the [Read More]
