Off Road winners overcome difficult starting positions

Only one of the four IMCA winners began the race among the first three rows in the starting grid, while the other three started at least four rows behind the pole sitter. Making up the most ground on Saturday was Cade Richards, who travelled from the sixth row in the field of 16 cars to the front to earn his first Off Road Speedway IMCA Sunoco Late Model win plus the $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonus. Richards survived a four-car battle for fourth to enter the top three with 14 of the 25 laps left and then, without a caution to help close the gap, still had to catch up to race leader Travis Birkley, which meant winning a duel with Alex Banks, who was also in pursuit. Serbus sprints to Dan Grams Memorial checkers

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 15, 2023) – Trevor Serbus was again victorious in the Henderson RoadHaus Dan Grams Memorial feature for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars Saturday at Arlington Raceway. Serbus drew the outside front row start and ran up front the total distance to win the race and $1,000. There was a red flag on the first lap when Michael Stien rolled over in the second set of turns. Bill Johnson got collected as well in and they were both out of the race. Brett Allen got the lucky dog award as he had gotten too high in turn two and fell off the back side of the track, losing several spots in the process, but the red was called and a complete restart occurred. Oliver, Barnes win again at Lee County

By Brian Neal DONNELLSON, Iowa (July 14, 2023) – John Oliver Jr. and Josh Barnes were both working on IMCA win streaks when the final checkers flew Friday at Lee County Speedway. Oliver, who started outside row five, worked himself into the hunt for the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car top spot by lap four and stayed close the next 10 times around the track, slipping under Derrick Agee for the runner-up spot and then going to work on Chad Krogmeier for the lead. Coming to the white flag, Oliver got under Krogmeier for the top spot and then held him off to claim his second win in a row and fourth of the season at Donnellson. Agee was third. Harris is first to repeat 2023 Virginia Sprint Series checkers

SHENANDOAH, Va. (July 15, 2023) – The Virginia Sprint Series got its first repeat winner of the season Saturday night as Jerald Harris streaked to a second straight IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car victory as black clouds rolled toward Shenandoah Speedway. Also the feature winner two weeks ago at Langley Speedway, Harris prepped for the main event by topping his heat race then, with inclement weather on the way, helped Daren Bolac leading the main event field to green. Harris stayed a little high and swept around Bolac to take the top spot as Aaron Leach made his way to third. Laps flew by on the pavement as Harris stayed smooth with tire management a priority. Oreskovich, Yarie, Nolan treated to Halloween at the Half Mile IMCA wins

SHAWANO, Wis. (July 15, 2023) – Racing was spooktacular and Max Oreskovich, Marcus Yarie and Trent Nolan were all spectacular in their respective IMCA feature wins during Shawano Speedway’s Saturday Halloween at the Half Mile show. In the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature, Dustin Marquardt and Shannon Fandrey paced the field to green but JJ Vanderloop quickly used his fourth starting spot to get past Marquardt for the lead. As laps continued to tick away, the machines of Oreskovich, Jeffery Teske and Tyler Sobiesczyk, were making a charge to the front. A yellow flag flew on lap nine which Oreskovich took advantage of and was a few car links away from Vanderloop. Williamson is captain of IMCA Shipwreck Beads Nationals

One night after topping the race of champions at Elma, Williamson outran and outlasted the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified field at Grays Harbor Raceway, topping the 24th annual Shipwreck Beads Nationals main event ahead of 2022 race winner Collen Winebarger. The Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational eligibility qualifying victory was Williamson’s fifth. Grey Ferrando, Geoff Morris and Robert Jenner rounded out the top five. A who’s who of Modified drivers from the Pacific Northwest and Canada vied for starting spots on the 24-car grid and Bricen James took the early lead with Jon DeBenedetti in second and Williamson third. Carter is speedy in IMCA SportMod win at Benton County Urbana Five Memorial

VINTON, Iowa (July 16, 2023) – Brayton Carter brought his ‘A’ game back to Benton County Speedway. As a result, he took $2,000 home to Oskaloosa. Carter reeled in cousin Dylan VanWyk, took the lead just after midway and outran Taylor Kuehl and hard chargers Matt Avila and Tony Olson in winning the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature, the nightcap for Sunday’s ninth annual Urbana Five Memorial special. “We’re just good at endurance-type races like these and we were able to make the most of our opportunities on restarts,” the national points leader said following his 19th IMCA win of the season. “To come here and support this race, and to be able to win it is huge,” he added. “It’s one of our top five races. It’s Logue by a nose, David Smith also wins first of season at Boone

The drainage system and the great prep crew had the track in perfect racing condition that saw multi-lane racing from the 158 cars checked into the pits. There was only one repeat winner, that being Matt Avila in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. Williamson wins IMCA Modified RoC at Friday Shipwreck Beads Nationals show

(July 14, 2023) – Night number one of Grays Harbor Raceway’s 24th annual Shipwreck Beads Nationals saw Jesse Williamson win the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified Race of Champions while Trevor Points prevailed in the $1,000 to win Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main. Twenty-one cars set the field for 25 laps during the Race of Champions, made up of 2023 feature winners and track champions across the Northwest and Canada. Williamson and Jason Tole set the front row. Williamson struck first going into turn one, taking the lead while Jason Beaulieu moved into second and Collen Winebarger made it a battle for the runner-up position. Brown, Paris score big wins at CJ Speedway

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 14, 2023) – Racing resumed at CJ Speedway, following two consecutive nights of rainouts of regular IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing programs. Rain threatened to spoil Friday night as well but went on as scheduled and Patriot Fireworks provided a very nice display of pyrotechnics before rain moved in. The headliner of the night was the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event. Brandon Banks debuted his new car and the new car is going to be a very fast machine. Banks shot to the front from his fourth row start and built a comfortable lead only to have ninth starting Jarrett Brown chase down Banks and make what proved to be the winning pass with four laps remaining.
