$10,000-To-Win Legends of Dirt Modified Shootout Headlines at Southern Oregon Speedway

WHITE CITY, Ore. (Aug. 5, 2025) — Southern Oregon Speedway will roar to life on August 15–16 with the Legends of Dirt Modified Shootout, a marquee event for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds that boasts a $10,000 top prize and an additional $10,000 in contingencies up for grabs. The weekend combines some of the track’s most storied traditions — the R. Charles Snyder Salute and the Rayburn Classic — into a single blockbuster program.

This is the highest-paying IMCA Modified race in the state of Oregon and ranks among the richest events in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region. In addition to the five-figure payday, a special one-of-a-kind gift will be presented to the winner in victory lane.

On Friday, the field will be split into two groups. Group A will contest heat races 1 through 3, while Group B runs heats 4 through 6. Qualifying — determined by pill draw — will set the heat race lineups, and results from those heats will shape the night’s feature lineups. The top seven finishers in each qualifying feature will lock into Saturday’s main event. A Time-In Challenge will then determine the inside and outside starting spots for the first four rows of the finale, using the top four drivers from each feature.

On Saturday, action continues with D, C, and B mains, with the top six finishers from each advancing. A 21st starting spot in the main event will be awarded via promoter’s provisional. Please note that the format is subject to change.

The event pays tribute to two late legends of the Southern Oregon racing community. R. Charles Snyder was a longtime announcer and local radio personality whose passion for racing and distinctive voice in the booth became synonymous with the sport in the region. He first called races at Medford Speedway in 1976 and was on the mic when Southern Oregon Speedway opened in 1996, continuing for many years until his passing in 2015.

Bruce Rayburn, known affectionately as “The Rabbit,” was a West Coast Stock Car standout whose competitive fire and winning ways earned him widespread respect. He passed away in December 2021 and is remembered through the Rayburn Classic portion of the weekend.

Past winners of the R. Charles Snyder Salute include Troy Foulger, Bobby Hogge, Kellen Chadwick, Jacob Hobscheidt, Jesse Williamson, and Andrew Pearce. Rayburn Classic winners have included Bricen James and Collen Winebarger.
