WaKEENEY, Kan. (May 30, 2025) — The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods had a busy night at WaKeeney Speedway, capped by an exciting feature that saw Blaine Walt emerge victorious after a late restart. Ryan Kirchoff stormed out to an early lead and looked unstoppable, leading the first sixteen laps before contact between a lapped car and Jack Kirchoff brought out the caution. That restart placed Walt on the inside of the front row.
Kirchoff got a strong jump and led for a few more laps, but Walt slipped underneath to take the lead. Kirchoff made one last attempt, but Walt held on to claim his fourth win of the season and third at WaKeeney, adding to his sweep of the John Fose Memorial. Kirchoff settled for second, with Cody Gearhart completing the podium.
Sproul Dominant in Mod Action
Dakota Sproul led every lap of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature, commanding the race from start to finish. Late-race contact between Mike Bainter and Kyle Rohleder, who was nursing a soft right rear tire, briefly shook up the order.
Clay Money closed in during the final laps but couldn’t get around Sproul, who picked up his third win of the season in the Jet Racing Central Region and second straight at WaKeeney. Money finished second, and Dylan Sherfick took third.
Schwien Grabs Third Compact Victory
Connor Schwien capitalized on early mechanical issues for leader Gage Porter to take control of the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact main and never looked back. A late caution didn’t faze him as he held off the field to earn his third win of the season.
Mitch Conner claimed second, while Kyle Mortensen took third.
Bell Takes Hobby Stock Thriller After Olmstead Retires Late
The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature saw Cody Williams lead early before Dylan Bell and Zach Olmstead charged to the front and traded the top spot. Olmstead looked to have the car to beat until a late mechanical failure handed the lead — and the win — to Bell.
Bell picked up his second win of the season in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region, with Garritt Caswell storming to second and Levi Jones placing third.
Troy Burkhart Holds Off Son for Fourth Stock Car Win
Troy Burkhart jumped out to the early lead in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car main and fended off pressure from his son, Tathan, in the closing laps. Tathan made a strong charge but ran out of time to complete the pass.
Troy secured his fourth win of the year in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region, followed by Tathan in second and Kyle Pfeifer in third.
