Time is right to add Stock Cars to IMCA Manufacturer’s Cup contest

VINTON, Iowa – Call it a case of perfect timing as growth in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division results in an expanded Manufacturer’s Cup contest this season.

While 17 chassis builders vie for national and regional honors in the 13th annual Manufacturer’s Cup contest for Modifieds, a dozen builders are in the running for similar accolades in the inaugural Cup competition for Stock Cars.

Standings will be based on makes of chassis driven by top 10 drivers in each of the five Modified regions and both Stock Car regions. Builders with the highest overall point total will be named IMCA Modified and Stock Car national Manufacturers of the Year.

“There has always been an interest in a Manufacturer’s Cup program for Stock Cars and this season the timing was right,” explained IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder. “The number of Stock Car drivers and sanctioned tracks continues to grow and that has helped get more builders to become part of, or return to the Cup program.”

Builders entered in both Modified and Stock Car Cup contests include 1st Class Chassis of Hoisington, Kan.; B & B Racing Chassis of Belle Plaine, Minn.; DeVilbiss Racing Chassis of Farmington, N.M.; Jet Racing of Beatrice, Neb.; Medieval Chassis of Mankato, Minn.; Rage Chassis of West Union; Rev Chassis of Tipton; Side Biter Chassis of Clear Lake; and Victory Race Cars of Story City.

Modified builders also include Assault Race Cars of Story City; Dirt Works Race Cars of Oronogo, Mo.; GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, Ark.; Harris Auto Racing of Boone; IRP Racecars of Longview, Texas; Razor Chassis of Platte Center, Neb.; Shaw Race Cars of Batesville, Ark.; and Skyrocket Chassis of Joice.

And Stock Car builders also include Big Daddy Race Cars of Norfolk, Neb., Cadillac Chassis of Greenbrier, Ark.; Sniper Speed of Gillett, Wis.; and Terminator Chassis of Boone.

The 2021 national Manufacturers of the Year receive a trophy while the top builder in each region receives a $100 cash prize and a plaque. Those awards will be presented during the national IMCA banquet in November.

GRT Chassis earned Modified national, Central Region and Western Region crowns in 2020. Harris Auto Racing ruled the Eastern Region, Razor Chassis the North Central Region and IRP Racecars the South Central Region.

All chassis builders entered in the Manufacturers’ Cup contest have the opportunity to display a car or cars during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway in September.
