MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Oct. 7, 2025) — October brings farmers to the field and race teams to America’s Bucket List Track for the final event of the 2025 season, the Fast Shafts Harvest Hustle on the High Banks at Marshalltown Speedway. Last year’s edition drew 239 race teams from 15 states, and another huge field is expected this year as more than $85,000 in purse money will be up for grabs for Speedway Motors IMCA competitors.
The three-day event runs October 23–25 and features Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods, Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks, Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites, and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. Modifieds will race for $4,000 to win, Stock Cars for $3,000, Northern SportMods for $2,000, Hobby Stocks for $3,000, and both Mod Lites and Sport Compacts for $1,000 apiece.
Thursday, Oct. 23, opens the weekend with an open practice session from 6–9 p.m. Pit gates open at 5:30 p.m., pit passes are $30, and grandstand admission is free. The popular Powder Puff Races will also take place that evening, and limited concessions will be available in the pit area.
Friday, Oct. 24, brings the J&M Fabrication Qualifying Night, with pit gates opening at 4 p.m., grandstands at 5:30, and racing at 7:00. There will be no hot laps. Qualifying will feature drivers competing in two heat races: the first lined up by pill draw and the second with the draw inverted to mix up competitors.
Points will be awarded for finishing and passing, and the top six in each division will lock into Saturday’s championship features and the Corn Pickin’ Contest to determine starting positions. Thanks to Elite Fleet Services, IMCA Hobby Stock heat races will pay $100 to win, $50 for second, and $25 for third.
Championship Saturday, Oct. 25, will start with a bag tournament at 10 a.m. with a $40 team entry and 80% payback. Pit gates open at 12:30 p.m., followed by Trailer Trick o’ Treating from 3–4 p.m., where kids can collect candy and enjoy a $100 prize for the best-decorated trailer. Grandstands open at 4 p.m., the drivers meeting is scheduled for 4:30, and racing begins at 5 p.m. The day’s program will include Last Chance Heats and LCQs to fill the remaining feature spots in all six divisions.
This year’s event will also honor Carl Moyer, an icon in Iowa’s automotive and racing community.
“Marshalltown was my dad’s favorite track. He loved it because it always had a top, middle, and bottom lane you could run all night,” said Bret Moyer. Carl’s legacy lives on through the Karl Auto Group, with dealerships in Ankeny, Stuart, Webster City, Story City, Glidden, and Marshalltown, and through his support of racers via Karl Kustoms.
“When Brandon Davis called and said Bret Moyer wanted to know if we would have a memorial race for Carl, I said we were honored that he would ask,” said track general manager Jerry Vansickel. “Carl had a way he wanted customers treated, and those same values carry over to how we operate at the track. It’s the Karl Way.”
The Modified and Stock Car feature winners at the Harvest Hustle will also be added to the eligibility list for the 2026 Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational and B&B Racing Chassis All-Star Stock Car Invitational, both to be held at next year’s Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.
Admission prices for the weekend are as follows: Thursday pit passes are $30, and admission in the grandstand seating area is free. On Friday and Saturday, grandstand tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors (65+), veterans, and students ages 11–17, and free for children 10 and under with a paid adult. Pit passes are $40 for all ages, with kids two and under free with a paid adult.
