BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Aug. 16, 2025) —  Rob Sanders led the opening 21 circuits of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature during the Tenth Annual Mike Moshier Classic at Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway. Brad Pounds, however, had other plans. Charging from sixth on the grid, Pounds relentlessly pounded the high side until he swept past Sanders for the lead on lap 22.

Sanders stuck to the bottom and kept within striking distance, but Pounds was not to be denied. He grabbed his third victory of the season — all three coming in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region — and wrapped up the 2025 track championship in the process. Sanders settled for second with Justin Crockett in third.

Bannister Dominates SportMods for Crown

Tyler Bannister left zero doubt in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods. Starting from the pole in the 25-lap feature, Bannister checked out from the drop of the green and stretched a 6.6-second advantage at the finish. The Bakersfield standout earned his fifth win of the season at the speedway and seventh overall in 2025.

Former track champion John Piker charged from seventh to finish second, while 2024 champion Jason Bannister — Tyler’s father — ran third in the family affair. The victory capped Tyler’s title-winning campaign in decisive fashion.

Johnson Strikes Again in Stock Cars, Noland Clinches Title

Nicholas Johnson picked up his fifth Sunoco IMCA Stock Car win of the Bakersfield season and ninth overall in the EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region. Johnson patiently worked through the pack after Jake Archibald led the first 10 laps. Following a series of three-wide battles, Johnson muscled underneath Archibald and was scored the leader on lap 11.

From there, Johnson darted away to another main event victory. Roger Holder finished second with Nick Spainhoward third. The night also secured Raymond Noland’s championship bid, as his steady fifth-place run was enough to clinch the crown.

The night’s action was broadcast live on IMCA TV affiliate TrackVision TV powered by Low Budget TV. Catch every lap again with the IMCA TV Replay Subscription, available for just $24.99/month. Don’t miss Season 2 of the Boone Docuseries, now streaming exclusively on IMCA TV.
