BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Aug. 13, 2025) — Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway will celebrate “The Race Doctor” with the 10th annual Mike Moshier Classic on Saturday, August 16. The night’s dirt track action will also serve as the 2025 championship night for all three Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing divisions, with the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods, and Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars in competition.
The event celebrates Mike Moshier, the late voice of Bakersfield Speedway, known for many catchphrases including “Holy Guacamole.” A large number of Moshier family members will be in attendance. The new Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway, located at Enos Ln. and I-5, includes the “Mike Moshier Tower” overlooking the one-third-mile dirt track.
Grandstand gates open at 4:30 p.m., with hot laps at 5 p.m. Opening ceremonies are set for approximately 6 p.m., followed by heat races and main events for all five divisions. General admission tickets are on sale now at www.BakersfieldSpeedway.com. Adult tickets are $18; kids ages 6–12 are $10; and kids five and under get in free. Parking is free.
Bakersfield drivers Gavyn Manning and Brad Pounds are locked in a fierce battle for the IMCA Modified crown. Manning leads Pounds by just six markers as he aims to defend his 2024 title. Each driver has two wins and five top-five finishes in the nine events this year. Bryan Clark sits 18 points back in third. Three-time winner Robby Sawyer is fourth, followed by Rob Sanders. A 30-lap feature is on tap.
Tyler Bannister looks to overtake his 2024 championship-winning father, Jason Bannister, for the 2025 IMCA Sport Mod championship this Saturday. Tyler’s four wins have him six points ahead of Jason, who has three wins. Paul Brown, Tyler Irwin, and Dylan Wilson round out the top five. The Sport Mods will run a 25-lap feature.
The IMCA Stock Car battle is also tight, with Raymond Noland leading Justin Schweitzer by just eight points. Jacob Van Essen is third, with all three still seeking a main event win this season. Austin Van Hoff of Chowchilla, with one win, ranks fourth, followed by Billy Simkins, also a one-time winner, in fifth. IMCA Stock Cars will race 20 laps at the Mike Moshier Classic.
