Veloz Scores Third Davenport Late Model Victory of 2025

DAVENPORT, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2025) — Logan Veloz became the first Sunoco IMCA Late Model driver to earn three victories this season at Davenport Speedway. After a long lay-off for the Mississippi Valley Fair, it was back to racing at the facility. Veloz started seventh and moved up to third after five laps. He was in second by lap nine and passed Clay Simpson for the lead on lap fifteen.

The win was Veloz’s 10th overall of the year in the Late Model,. Bryce Garnhart would also pass Simpson in the final laps for second. Simpson held on for third.

Dierks Doubles Up at Davenport in Modifieds

Brad Dierks picked up the win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. Brad had to pass early race leader Jace Eckrich to grab the top spot. While those two were dicing for the lead, Spencer Diercks was slowly working his way forward from a sixth-row starting position.

With two laps to go, Spencer was able to pass Eckrich for second, but would advance no further. Brad Dierks collected his second win of the year at Davenport and his third Razor Chassis North Central Region victory of 2025. Spencer Diercks took second with Jace Eckrich third.

Justin Veloz Victorious in SportMods

Twenty-seven racers battled for the win in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods. Erick Turner led the first six laps of the main, with Justin Veloz taking over on lap seven. Veloz led the rest of the way and survived a green–white–checkered finish to claim his first Davenport victory of the season.

The win was also his third of the year at three different tracks. Josh Starr jumped from his seventh starting position but would only make it to second. Third was Perry Gellerstedt.

Short Handles Hobby Stock Field for First 2025 Win


Lukas Short posted his first Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature win of the year. Short led flag-to-flag for the win, which was also his first in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region in 2025. Randy LaMar started eighth and finished second. Third went to Daniel Wauters.

Padilla Prevails in Mod Lites

The Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites may have had the best feature of the night. Twelve green-flag laps with three lead changes kept the fans on their feet. Jon Padilla took the lead on lap nine and held it for the final laps.

The win was Padilla’s 10th of the year, with three of those coming at Davenport. R.J. Gonzales led five laps and finished second. Blake Gonzales finished third.
