MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 1, 2025) — $1,000 was on the line for the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars at Marshalltown Speedway thanks to Midwest Liquid Systems. Braden Richards and Damon Murty led the 24-car field to green for 20 laps of hard-hitting action. Richards and Murty swapped the top spot over the first few circuits, with Richards gaining a slight advantage.
A caution with 13 to go bunched up the pack, but Richards stayed strong up front. Jeff Mueller closed fast and took over with four laps remaining, but it was Dallon Murty who stole the show, surging forward in the final laps and nipping Mueller at the line by just .247 seconds. Richards settled for third. The win marked Murty’s fifth of the season, four of which have come in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region.
SportMod Ace Carter Adds to MoTown Tally
The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods brought 16 laps of intensity to the track. Thomas Lathrop and Austin Kemp brought the field to green, but it was Brayton Carter throwing a textbook slider just two laps in to take command. A caution with 10 laps left erased a two-second lead and gave Jenae Gustin a shot at the top spot.
Two more cautions with three to go stacked the field again, but Carter aced each restart and parked it for another Marshalltown victory. The win marked his 23rd of the season and seventh at MoTown. Will Wolf and Kyle Olson completed the podium.
Shute Strikes Late to Win Marshalltown Modified Battle
The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds went to war for 20 laps with Gat Leytham and Ronn Lauritzen leading the charge. Leytham showed the way early before Logan Anderson claimed the top spot just past halfway. But Tom Berry Jr. threw his hat in the ring and took over with nine to go, only for a caution to re-stack the field.
On the restart, Todd Shute made his move, powering to the lead with six to go while Berry exited to the pits. Shute sealed his first win of the year at Marshalltown, besting Kollin Hibdon and Dallon Murty. It was also Shute’s fifth win of the season in the Razor Chassis North Central Region.
Caution-Filled Hobby Stock Chaos Ends with Stanton on Top
The IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks put on a yellow-flag-filled 16-lap contest. Derrick McNeece led early before Brayden Fahrni took over with 14 to go. Multiple cautions kept the field tight and shuffled the lead several times, with Fahrni eventually exiting and handing the point to Kolby Sabin. More stoppages and a black flag to Eric Knutson for aggressive driving set up a thrilling finish.
With two laps to go, Eric Stanton surged to the front and held on for his second win of the season, and in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region, at the famed ¼-mile oval. Bennett and Corey VanDerwilt chased him to the line.
Roggentien Holds Strong in Compact Contest
In the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts, Tyler Fiebelkorn and Blake Driscol led the 13-car field to green. Points leader Spencer Roggentien emerged from a multi-car battle and took over the top spot before a caution with six to go reracked the field. Roggentien was strong on the restart and held off Christian Grady and Michael Gardner to earn his fourth win of the year, all of which have come at Marshalltown Speedway.
Brown Bests Anderson Brothers in Mod Lites
The Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites brought 15 laps of excitement to the track. Charlie Brown grabbed the early advantage over Grant Anderson before a caution seven laps in. On the restart, Garrison Anderson pulled alongside Brown, but Brown held serve. Behind them, Austin Gray, Grant Anderson, Alex Eischeid, and Dillon Rafferty scrapped for third. Brown took the checkers ahead of Garrison and Grant Anderson. It was Brown’s fourth win of the season and his first at Marshalltown.
