ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 30, 2025) — Dan Mackenthun made the most of a big night at his home track, scoring the biggest win of his career during the Sibley County Fair Stock Car Shootout at Arlington Raceway. The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car special paid $5,000 to win, and Mackenthun racked up an additional $1,725 for leading 23 of the 30 laps, plus a $100 bonus for his heat race win. His dominant effort also locked him into the prestigious B&B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational at this year’s Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The triumph marked Mackenthun’s seventh of the season in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region and his fourth at the Arlington ½-mile.

A stout field of 36 Stock Cars battled for a share of the $30,000 purse. Jake McBirnie paced the opening seven laps before a caution gave Mackenthun the opportunity he needed. Starting fifth, Mackenthun had already climbed to second by lap one and wasted no time slipping past McBirnie on the ensuing restart. Another yellow came on lap 19, but the rest of the race ran clean.

McBirnie made several runs but couldn’t wrestle the lead away. John Oliver Jr. and Kelly Shryock diced through the field behind the front two, with Shryock earning hard charger honors and Oliver receiving $200 for longest tow. McBirnie took home $2,000 for second, plus $525 in lap money, while Shryock finished third.

The night was presented by Geib Well & Water and Justice Brothers. Heat winners earned $100 each, and Josh Larsen earned an additional $100 for fastest overall heat time via My Race Pass. McBirnie earned pole honors in the Justice Brothers Redraw “pistol shootout” and gave Andrea McCain $500 in a fan bonus draw. Other random $500 bonuses went to AJ Zimmerman, Curt Lund, Justin Luinenburg and Dave Moriarty. Jed Trebelhorn was awarded $100 as the last car running in the A feature. Five non-qualifiers from the B main each pocketed $50.

Neisen & Sons Construction also hosted a Stock Car King of the Hill, inverting the top 10 feature finishers for a separate race. Matthew Looft came out on top and took home a $500 payday.

Enter Goes Flag-to-Flag in SportMod Payday

Broddy Enter had the hot hand in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods, leading all 25 laps and holding off all challengers to earn the $800 feature win. After drawing the pole, Enter made the most of the clean air and lapped traffic worked in his favor. A yellow flew when Cole Hesse took a wild ride into the withholding pond between turns one and two, but he was unhurt. On the restart, Enter again pulled away while Eric Larson and Eric Bassett fought for second. Larson held on for the runner-up finish, with Bassett completing the podium. Enter now owns eight overall wins in 2025, four of them at Arlington.

Probst Powers from 12th to Win Hobby Stock Feature

The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock main event saw three different leaders, but in the end it was Cory Probst who stormed from 12th starting to first. Chad Volk led early, while Blake Luinenburg chased in second. A flat tire sidelined Taylor Manderfield at halfway, bringing out a yellow. On the restart, Luinenburg took the point, but Probst powered past by turn two and never looked back. The B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region frontrunner earned his 25th win of the year—nine of them at Arlington—and claimed both the hard charger and last-place draw bonuses for an extra $200. Luinenburg and Volk ran second and third.

Jonathan Schroeder received a $100 bonus as the last-place finisher. Mac Tollefson earned $100 for last place in his heat. Dan Scharpe took home a random $250 draw prize, while Moriah Trebelhorn won $150 in the pit draw.
