VINTON, Iowa (Jun. 22, 2025) — Brandon Tharp led the early laps of the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods feature at Benton County Speedway during Iowa Donor Night, held in remembrance of the Urbana 5, but Kyle Olson quickly reeled him in. Brady Hilmer moved into third as Olson turned up the pressure. By halfway, Olson powered into the lead while Hilmer worked the low groove to take over second.
Lapped traffic brought the front-runners together again in the closing laps, with Brett Thomas joining the battle. Olson held off a hard-charging Hilmer for the win, his third of the season and second at “The Bullring” this year. Thomas finished third.
Fisher Inches Ahead in Hobby Stock Close Finish
Joren Fisher edged out the competition in the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks. He quickly moved into the lead with Dustin Filloon and Mike Kimm giving chase. Filloon later slipped into the top spot as lapped traffic began to play a role in the outcome.
Leah Wroten advanced into third ahead of Justin Stander as the laps clicked off. As the checkers waved, Fisher edged Filloon for his fourth B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region win and second at Benton County. Wroten completed the podium in third.
Janssen Splits the Middle, Claims Third Modified Win
Drew Janssen split the middle to claim the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified victory. Izac Mallicoat worked past Ethan Krall to pace the opening circuits. Logan Anderson challenged into second before an early caution bunched the field.
Janssen climbed into third and by lap seven split the leaders to take control. He began pulling away through lapped traffic and earned his third win of the year in the Razor Chassis North Central Region, all at different tracks. Mallicoat and Anderson finished second and third, respectively.
Oliver Jr. Shakes Up Stock Car Scene with Vinton Triumph
John Oliver Jr. snapped Tony Olson’s local win streak in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars. Texas’ Tommy Fain showed the way early before Oliver and Kaden Reynolds traded the lead. Oliver eventually gained control and began to stretch his advantage while Dustin Vis and Kyle Olson moved into the mix.
A caution reset the field with Oliver now challenged by Olson and Vis. Tony Olson and Brett Vanous also entered the top five. Oliver held on for his second win of the season in Vinton and seventh in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region. Tony Olson and Vanous rounded out the top three.
