ELMA, Wash. (June 18, 2025) — One of the biggest Friesen Performance Modified races in the Pacific Northwest returns for its 26th running, as the Modified Nationals takes center stage at Grays Harbor Raceway on Friday and Saturday, July 18–19. The event pays an impressive $7,500 to win and $200 to start Saturday’s 40-lap main event, with over $20,000 in total purse money up for grabs.
This IMCA-sanctioned special will feature two nights of intense racing. On Friday, all drivers will compete in two heat races — the first lined up straight-up by pill draw, the second fully inverted by original draw order. Points will be awarded based on finishing position and passing points. The top 18 in overall points from Friday advance directly to Saturday’s A Main, while the rest will transfer into Saturday’s B Mains.
Also, Friday night, the prestigious Race of Champions returns — a 25-lap showdown featuring up to 20 drivers who are either former Modified Nationals champions, Modified track champions from the past 10 years, or 2024 Grays Harbor Raceway feature winners. Prior Nationals champions are given priority entry, followed by track champs, and then weekly winners.
Saturday’s format includes hot laps for B Main and A Main cars. B Mains will be 15 laps in length, with a total of six cars transferring to fill out the 24-car field. The Saturday night A Main will go three-wide at the green flag for 40 spectacular laps. Promoter provisionals may be added at discretion.
The complete Saturday night A Main payout is headlined by $7,500 to the winner, with $3,500 for second, $2,000 for third, and a minimum of $200 to start. Friday night’s Race of Champions pays $500 to win and $100 to start. Heats also pay $20 to the top four finishers. Full purse details and entry forms are available on the event flyer on the track’s website.
The Modified Nationals has been IMCA-sanctioned regularly since 2021, with a previous one-off IMCA-sanctioned event held in 2013. Since then, three drivers have claimed Modified Nationals titles under the IMCA banner: Jeremy Shank (2013), Jesse Williamson (2021 & 2023), and Collen Winebarger (2022 & 2024). Last year’s feature ran caution-free from start to finish.
Entry for the weekend is $100, with a $50 fee for the Race of Champions. Pit passes are $45 per day online or $50 at the gate. All payouts will be mailed the week after the event. A completed W-9 is required with entry to receive payout.
