MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 7, 2025) — The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds delivered one of the season’s most thrilling contests Saturday night at Maquoketa Speedway, featuring a race-long battle between two of the best in the business. Jeff “Bone” Larson and Spencer Diercks went toe-to-toe for all 20 laps, trading slide jobs and crossover moves as the lead changed hands multiple times.

Larson ultimately prevailed, edging out Diercks at the checkers, while current point leader Jaden Fryer crossed the line in third. The win marked Larson’s third at Maquoketa this season and his fifth overall in the Razor Chassis North Central Region. The Freeport, Illinois driver showcased why he’s one of the top contenders every time he rolls into town.

Denning Drives to Late Model Victory from Deep Start

In Sunoco IMCA Late Model action, point leader Travis Denning charged from the fifth row to earn the win. The Sterling, Illinois, pilot powered to the front by lap 10 and stayed there, recording his second Maquoketa win of the season. Dalton Simonsen and Don Pataska completed the podium.

In victory lane, Denning praised the track crew and promoters: “These guys are doing a great job of giving us a racy track every week, and it has been a lot of fun racing here.” Denning was referring to the promotional team of Kevin Yarolem and brothers Matt and Jake Montoya.

Franzen Capitalizes Late in SportMod Scramble

The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods feature flipped in the final laps thanks to a late caution. Bobby Taggart had led the whole way until he slipped off the high side of turn four, setting up a four-lap dash to the finish.

Maquoketa’s own Jarett Franzen took full advantage, rocketing around the top side on the restart to take the win ahead of Bob Silaggi and Josh Starr. It marked Franzen’s third win of the year, with two of them coming at his hometown track.

Neal Nabs Second Straight Stock Car Win

Gage Neal made it two straight wins in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars at Maquoketa. Starting sixth, the Anamosa chauffeur moved to the point after taking the lead from Jarett Franzen, who was subbing for Timmy Current in the no. 12T machine.

Neal raced to the checkers ahead of Franzen and Casey Shelliam. Both of Neal’s EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region wins this season have come at Maquoketa.

Miles Muscles to First Hobby Stock Win of 2025

When the dust settled, 15-year-old Karter Miles of Bernard parked it in victory lane for just the second time in his career — and his first win of 2025 in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region.

Miles grabbed the lead with two laps to go and survived a wild last-lap skirmish to beat Lukas Short and Kile Vohringer to the line.
