Kinzley Captures First 2025 Win in Don Gumke Memorial Thriller

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (June 7, 2025) – Jamestown Speedway hosted the 6th Annual Don Gumke Racers Memorial on Saturday night. Gumke, a racing legend from the Jamestown area, competed for many decades across the country before tragically passing away in January of 2020 while working on his race car.

The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds honored his legacy by battling for a $2,222 top prize in one of the region’s competitive events.

When the green flag waved, Marcus Tomlinson and Jordan Sours traded early sliders in a spirited duel for the lead. An early caution regrouped the field, and on the restart, Quentin Kinzley found momentum along the high side of the track. He surged past both Tomlinson and Sours to take command before a string of cautions disrupted the flow.

Kinzley then came under fire from racing veteran John Corell, who was just as fast running the bottom groove. As the two navigated lapped traffic, Corell slipped by to take the lead with nine laps remaining. But a caution with six to go reshaped the outcome.

On the ensuing restart, Kinzley and Corell battled side-by-side in a thrilling race for the win. The high side ultimately prevailed, as Kinzley powered back to the lead with five laps to go and held on to score his first victory of the 2025 season in the Razor Chassis North Central Region—and his first-ever win in the prestigious Don Gumke Memorial. The race was also a qualifier for the Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational, making Kinzley eligible to attempt to qualify for the event during the 2025 Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.

Dave Shipley made a last-lap pass to claim third, edging Marcus Tomlinson at the line.

Arneson, Krogh have adversaries’ numbers at Jamestown Stampede

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Sept. 22) – Numerologists in the grandstand had to enjoy the outcome of IMCA Modified and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main events Saturday at Jamestown Speedway’s Stampede. Casey Arneson, driving the number 2 car, topped the $2,000 to win Modified main event while Luke Krogh rode the number 47 Northern SportMod entry to the winner’s circle at the 47th annual event. Arneson had top-three finishes in two previous starts at Jamestown. He caught Dave Shipley for the lead on the 10th of 25 circuits and then outran Allen Kent in the race for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying checkers. “It was pretty surreal. Friday, Saturday features for IMCA Modifieds, SportMods at Stampede

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The 49th annual Stock Car Stampede special wraps up the season at Jamestown Speedway Sept. 25 and 26 with features for IMCA Modifieds and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods both nights. IMCA Modifieds race for $1,500 to win on Friday and $2,000 to win Saturday in their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers. Both races pay a minimum of $125 to start, with $200 paid to the leader on laps 2 and 22 both nights in honor of Don Gumke. Northern SportMod features pay $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100 to start. Both shows are draw/redraw. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded and Modifieds earn Side Biter Chassis North Central Region points as well. Former champion Ward gets first IMCA Dakota Tour Modified win

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (July 8, 2023) – Tim Ward has already won an IMCA.TV Dakota Classic Modified Tour championship. Now he’s won an IMCA.TV Dakota Classic Modified Tour feature. Ward drew the pole and led all 30 laps of the 34th annual tour opener for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds Saturday at Jamestown Speedway, outrunning 10th starting Travis Hagen to the $2,000 checkers. “We finally got a win,” said Ward, twice a runner-up while en route to the 2021 tour title. ”It’s so tough to win on this tour. (Jun. 7, 2025) — In Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock action at Arlington Raceway, Jonathan Schroeder was the early leader until he pulled off the track on lap 9, following a yellow for Taylor Manderfield’s engine issues. Blood Edges Patterson in Photo Finish at Sunset

Both the reigning Oregon and Washington state champions were in the house, and the action lived up to the billing. Oregon’s Carter Patterson set a torrid pace out front that could’ve gone unnoticed—if not for the war that broke out behind him for positions two through five. David Day, John Gaynor, Tyson Blood, and Devon Reed were locked in a relentless battle, often racing under a blanket and using multiple grooves across the Bullring. Lamphere Charges to Second Win After Wild Woodhull Modified Feature

(Jun. 7, 2025) – A string of early cautions slowed the start of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Woodhull Raceway, setting the stage for a dramatic and unpredictable main event. Shawn Bruce led the opening laps before mechanical trouble forced him to the back of the field, bringing out a yellow. That handed the lead to Jakub Ingham, who paced the field for a couple circuits until longtime Street Stock veteran Earl Zimmer muscled his way into the top spot. But heartbreak struck again—Zimmer’s car suffered a rear-end failure that ended his night prematurely. Ingham regained the lead, but his challenge was just beginning. Keith Lamphere, charging forward with momentum, closed in and eventually made the pass to take over the top spot. Lamphere then held off all challengers to score his second win of the season at Woodhull and second overall in the DeVilbiss Racing Eastern Region. Ingham settled for a strong runner-up finish, with Jacob McConnell crossing the line third.
