Garnhart Scores First Official 2025 Davenport Win

DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 30, 2025) — Redemption was on the line for Bryce Garnhart Friday night at Davenport Speedway. The Lanark, Illinois driver had initially won the opening night feature, only to be disqualified when his car came up light at the scales. This time, there was no question.

Garnhart took control early in the Sunoco IMCA Late Model feature, grabbing the lead from his front-row starting spot. Late in the race, Logan Veloz began closing in on the leader, but a caution with two laps to go changed everything.

During the yellow, Veloz’s engine began overheating and he was forced to pit. On the restart, Garnhart pulled away unchallenged and captured his first official win of the season at Davenport. Dustin Smith capitalized on the restart to pass Andy Nezworski for second place.

Diercks Drives to Third Davenport Modified Win

In Friesen Performance IMCA Modified action, Spencer Diercks notched his third win at Davenport this season. Starting eighth, Diercks worked his way into the top five before a mid-race caution helped open the door. After the restart, he surged to the front and never looked back, claiming the victory by nearly two seconds over Chris Zogg. Brad Dirks came home third.

Diercks, from Davenport, now has six wins in the Razor Chassis North Central Region this season.

Olson Rallies from Sixth Row for SportMod Victory

Tony Olson racked up his fourth Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod feature win at Davenport. The Cedar Rapids driver now has seven SportMod victories in 2025. Keith Wiersema led the opening lap before Rayce Mullen took over and paced the field until lap eight.

Olson, who started from the sixth row, made his way to the front and led the remaining laps untouched. Josh Starr crossed the line second, followed by Mullen, Ryan Reed, and Levi Heath.

Wauters Charges from the Back to Win Again in the Hobby Stocks

In the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock main event, Tipton’s Daniel Wauters came from the back of the field to score his third Davenport feature win of the year. Starting last, Wauters powered through the field to continue his hot streak, now with four wins in the B&B Racing Northern Region this season. Heat race winner Randy LaMar took second, with Bruce Noles rounding out the podium.

Freeburg Claims First Career Davenport Triumph in the Mod Lites

The Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites entertained with a strong showing. Brandon Freeburg, from Matamora, Illinois, started fifth and took the lead midway through the race to earn his first career Davenport win. Jason Masengarb finished second, and Blake Gonzales was third.
