Matt Sanders Surges from Ninth to Score SportMod Victory at CGS

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (May 10, 2025) — Matt Sanders charged from ninth to take command of the 25-lap Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod main event at Cottage Grove Speedway. The 2022 Oregon State and track champion steadily worked his way through the pack, eventually slipping past Garrett Craig for the lead on the backstretch of lap 10. Once in front, Sanders set a blistering pace and opened up a comfortable gap over the field.

Craig, who led the opening laps, maintained a strong run in second, fending off multiple challengers as Sanders pulled away. The race for third became the focal point in the closing laps, with Aaron Bloom and Isaac Sanders battling door-to-door until Bloom secured the spot in the final circuits.

For the Brookings native, the victory was his second of the season — both coming at the historic ¼-mile oval. Craig and Bloom completed the podium in an exciting SportMod feature.

Henderson Hustles to First Sport Compact Win of 2025

Dusten Henderson delivered a determined drive to win the 20-lap Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature at Cottage Grove Speedway. Henderson, who started fourth, briefly led on lap six but was relegated back to second after a caution.

The Cottage Grove native regrouped and charged back to the lead on lap 10, cruising away for his first victory of the season. Eighteen-year-old Charles Trissell finished second, while defending Oregon State champion Burnie Bryant claimed third.

Isaac Sanders scores second Freedom Cup Weekend win

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (July 4, 2022) – Cottage Grove Speedway returned to racing on Independence Day for the third straight night of action. Jacob Hoppes blazed the trail early in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main event. Steven Sanders passed Hoppes on lap 12. Sanders, whose two brothers had visited victory lane the first two nights, had a fast hot rod but brother Isaac proved to have an even faster ride. Isaac Sanders successfully got into first place on lap 28 to win his third race of 2022 at Cottage Grove Speedway. Steven Sanders was second with Trevor Points placing third. Unfortunately, the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts could not run their Froggy 44 main event, which has been rescheduled for a later date. Bloom scores huge win at Cottage Grove

(May 8) – Cottage Grove Speedway had the second round of Mother’s Day Weekend racing on Saturday, May 8 and the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods boasted a massive 27 cars in the pit area. The main event was a relatively caution-free affair of the 20-lap feature. Aaron Bloom secured the top place position on opening start and began to take off from the rest of the contingent. Two stoppages occurred through the course of the main event. The first yellow was on lap two, with the second and final one taking place on lap 11. The final caution bunched the field up close together and brought some challengers that threatened Bloom’s reign. After the restart, David Schmidt tried to overtake Bloom but could not wholly perform the pass. Schmidt eventually had his hands full with a charging Jorddon Braaten. Bloom takes care of business at Cottage Grove

(July 23, 2022) – Dalton Bloom took care of business Saturday night in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature as the Lebanon driver accrued his second win of the season at Cottage Grove Speedway this season. Kevin Williamson beat David Schmidt for second. Hunter Bloom and Daniel Ray were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the finishing order. Scarlett Drake was the winner of the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature. It is the second win of the campaign for the Salem racer. Dusten Henderson hit the line second with third going to Burnie Bryant. Eli Miller ended the weekend fourth with Chris Pierce grabbing fifth.

Ryan Tusing Goes Elbows Up to win at Bloomington

(May 9, 2025) — On a beautiful night in southern Indiana, the Huntley’s Winged Hoosier Sprint Series saw 26 RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Cars check in to try and tame the historic Bloomington Speedway. Olmstead Cashes in at RPM with Hobby Stock Victory

By Sheldon Wickwar HAYS, Kan. (May 10, 2025) — The Sunoco Hobby Stocks closed out the show at RPM Speedway with Zach Olmstead completing a weekend sweep after winning at Colby the previous night. The B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region standout secured his seventh victory of the season in ten starts, taking command late in the 20-lap main event after a bobble by Dylan Bell opened the door. Olmstead charged from deep in the field to grab the lead and never looked back. Bell, who led for a good portion of the race, settled for second but maintained his stellar season streak of top three finishes in all seven of his starts. Whitman Motors to Modified Win in Outagamie Opener

By John Tienor SEYMOUR, Wis. May 9, 2025) — Suamico’s Johnny Whitman picked up the caution free, 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Outagamie Speedway’s season opener. Whitman started sixth on the grid and immediately motored towards the front where he challenged polesitter Adam Abbey and Jayden Schmidt in a three car duel for the lead. Whitman wrestled the top spot away from Schmidt on lap 13 and steadily built a comfortable cushion in the final circuits to score the win, his second in the Razor Chassis North Central Region and first since winning 141 Speedway’s opener back in early April.
