May paces two-day points for Mod Lite Cornbelt Clash

STUART, Iowa – Josh May totaled 77 points to earn the two-day Cornbelt Clash crown for IMCA STARS Mod Lites. 

After opening night on May 28 at Marshalltown Speedway was lost to inclement weather, May ran second to Joe Glick the next night at Boone Speedway and third Sunday at Stuart Speedway behind Justin Kinderknecht and Kaden Cochrun.

On top of purse shares, May received a trophy and $100 for his Cornbelt Clash efforts, along with a Hoosier tire certificate after passing 19 cars to collect hard charger honors on Sunday. 

Heat winners on Saturday were May, Glick, Mike Kennedy and Bryan Zehm. The “B” winner was Cory Sonner, who also got the Hoosier hard charger tire certificate after passing 16 cars in the main . 

Sunday heat winners were Jon Padilla, Cody Yaw and Nathan Wolf.

Yoshimura bonuses were presented to top three finishers in the feature at Stuart Speedway. Kinderknecht got $250, Cochrun $150 and May $100. 

Hard luck awards went to Chad Shartzer at Boone and to Yaw at Stuart, both after flips. 

Three hundred dollars from Schaeffer’s Oil was split between travelers to both shows. Schaeffer’s also gave a case of racing oil each night to the longest tow, Cochrun and Marlin Hogie. 

Numerous Rod End Supply certificates, Schaeffer products and pictures from Jared Bailey were also given to participating IMCA STARS Mod Lite competitors during the Memorial Weekend.
