Gereau Edges Ten Napel in Stock Car Classic

By Ben Deathearge JEFFERSON, S.D. (May 2, 2025) — The 20-lap IMCA Stock Car main event capped the evening with a white-knuckle thriller that ended in a photo finish. Chad Ten Napel took the lead on lap 3 and looked strong through two early cautions. Two-time South Dakota State champion Todd Gereau, who started 12th, patiently carved through the field and entered the lead battle with just a few laps to go. Gereau made a daring move on lap 17, diving low to briefly grab the lead, only to drift wide and surrender the position. Undeterred, he switched to the high side and carried the momentum off the final corner to nip Ten Napel at the line by inches. It was Gereau’s first EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of the year. Mayden Wins Modified Main At Cottage Grove

(May 3, 2025) — The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified 25-lap main event at Cottage Grove Speedway was full of fierce action and multiple lead changes before Springfield’s Jake Mayden emerged as the winner. Brett Muth led the opening circuits before three-time track champ Curtis Towns slipped by on lap 6, only for the Superior Fuel Cells owned no. 42 entry driven by Kevin Williamson to charge to the front via the high side two laps later. Williamson maintained a narrow advantage until late in the race when Bricen James, aboard the Schram Motorsports fielded no. 13, closed the gap. James, a former Shaw Race Cars Western Region and two-time Oregon State champion, seized the lead on lap 20. When the checkered flag flew James and Williamson were first and second at the line. Richards Edges Vanover in Eagle Stock Car Classic

(May 3, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars delivered the race of the night at Eagle Raceway, with Mason Richards prevailing in a thrilling 20-lap showdown against Kyle Vanover. Trading the lead multiple times and battling door-to-door for much of the main event, Richards edged Vanover in a dramatic finish that had the crowd on its feet. Vanover worked the high side to seize the lead on the opening lap before an early caution slowed the pace. On the restart, Richards rolled the bottom to briefly take the lead on lap six, but Vanover used the outside line to edge back ahead the following time around. For several laps, the two battled door-to-door, with Tyler Jackson entering the picture in third. Richards regained the top spot on lap 11 with a smooth run through the center while Vanover experimented with lower lines to stay in the fight.
