Morris throws shade at STIMS opponents

By JM Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (April 6, 2024) – Solar Eclipse Eve, Eve. I-37 Speedway roared back into action less than two days away from the Total Solar Eclipse. An omen perhaps? The inaugural South Texas Friesen Performance IMCA Modified Series race on I-37 Speedway’s ¼-mile, semi-banked, dirt, oval was a barn burner with Chris Morris running down Ryan Doyon in the final laps. Morris and Doyon exchanged slide jobs with Morris edging out Doyon at the checkers and Rick Green third. As green waved on the feature it was polesitter Doyon getting the point ahead of Morris, Jacob Hortch, Cody Leonard and Jared Maupin. On a lap three restart, Leonard got by Hortch for second while Greg Dinsmore, who started out back, made his way past Chris Carroll before another yellow. Huish reigns at Dodge City’s Sprint Car Nationals

DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 6, 2024) – First he won the king of the hill. Next, Jeremy Huish reigned over the inaugural Sprint Car Nationals at Dodge City Raceway Park. Huish led all 30 laps from the pole Saturday night, collecting the $5,000 IMCA RaceSaver checkers ahead of Conner Thomas and Steven Richardson. “It’s very, very cool to win the first one at Dodge,” said Huish, who’d put his name on another exclusive list by winning RaceSaver Nationals last September. “I heard Conner early but the track was very fast and you could catch up with (the back of the field) very quickly.” He pulled away after the last, late restart and won by about a straightaway. The win by Huish was his third in four starts dating back to last fall in the Steve Cranston-owned Maxim ride previously piloted by Luke Cranston. Abbey leaves Harcrow foes feeling blue

WACO, Texas (April 5, 2024) – A race night that saw a who’s who of IMCA Sunoco Stock Car drivers in the EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region saw Jeffrey Abbey stand tallest at the end of the evening. Abbey got the best of the rest of a star-filled field at Heart O’ Texas Speedway’s fifth annual Baby Blue Harcrow Memorial, scoring both a $1,515 payday and B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. “There were a lot of good cars here,” said Abbey, also the Harcrow race winner in 2022. “But we got a couple good breaks and were able to win it.” After starting seventh, he’d run with the likes of Blake Clark, Cody Smith and Jason Batt before passing pole starter Paul White for the point with 10 laps remaining. “I caught a couple breaks. Braaksma wins again, Richards ends dry spell at Boone Frostbuster

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (April 6, 2024) – The winning continued for Ethan Braaksma while Rod Richards saw a dry spell end in Saturday IMCA Frostbuster action at Boone Speedway. Braaksma raced to his sixth Friesen Performance IMCA Modified victory of the young season and another $1,000 payday at Iowa’s Action Track. Richards, meanwhile, earned $750 for his first IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers since 2019. Also the Thursday Frostbuster winner at Stuart, Braaksma opted for a higher route around after watching the Stock Cars use the lower line in their Saturday feature. That strategy paid off as he’d catch Todd Shute for the runner-up spot seven laps in and then passed pole starter Jerry Flippo on the 10th circuit. “We were able to get out to a decent lead after that. Berry continues Marshalltown mastery in IMCA Frostbuster

Now he’s being told he could probably drive around the place with his eyes shut and do it. Berry raced to his latest win at the Highbanks on Friday night, dominating the Frostbuster feature for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds in a borrowed car. “This track had been my nemesis. Cedar County canceled this weekend

TIPTON, Iowa (April 4, 2024) – Point the finger at wet weather and resulting wet grounds, following cancellation of the scheduled April 5 and 6 Spring Fling at Cedar County Raceway. Instead, three IMCA divisions visit Tipton for the first time this season on Thursday, April 18, running with the MLRA at the Darkside Promotions’ Hawkeye Land 40. The numbers add up: PASS is rocking in 2024

(April 3, 2024) – The River Valley Builders Pennsylvania Sprint Series isn’t usually like NASCAR, starting the season with its biggest race, but thanks to last weekend’s rainout at Path Valley Speedway and last October’s weather issues at Port Royal Speedway, that’s what’s happening in 2024.
