Saturday IMCA feature wins are especially sweet at Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (May 18, 2024) – Benji Legg was among the IMCA drivers enjoying the sweet taste of victory on Buckets of Candy Night Saturday at Eagle Raceway. Legg led Tyler Jackson, Thomas Etherton and Jeremy Down in taking the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers at America’s Home Track. “I won a lot of races in a SportMod here and then quit racing after 2015. Bittner wins after Reed dominates at Hagerstown

By Jim Haines HAGERSTOWN, Md. (May 18, 2024) – Timmy Bittner was in the right place at the right time. Austin Reed was not, in the Saturday feature race at Hagerstown Speedway co-sanctioned by the Virginia Sprint Series and the Laurel Highlands Sprint Series. With rain outs in the area everywhere, 35 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars signed in to the smooth fast oval and the feature line up was led by Ken Duke and Kenny Heffner. As the field went green, out front like a rocket was Reed, who started to pull away lap after lap, leaving Duke, Heffner and Bittner to fight over the runner-up spot. Reed was not going to be caught as the laps were winding down, with Bittner making his way to second, Heffner in third and Josh Spicer and Duke acing for fourth. Uehling rules Off Road IMCA Hobby Stock feature

(May 18, 2024) – Half a car length made the difference between a W and second-place in Saturday’s IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature at Off Road Speedway. In the closest race of the night, Uehling edged Jason Wilkinson at the flag stand by a half-car length for a win. Uehling, who started on the outside of row one, led all 15 laps with Wilkinson in pursuit the entire race. The pair repeatedly pulled away from the field, even following a caution with just six laps remaining, and Wilkinson increased the pressure each of the final trips around the track. Wilkinson closed the gap coming out of turn four the last time around, then pulled alongside Uehling briefly on the backstretch but would get no closer than Uehling’s door as the cars passed the flag stand. Hesse hauls to career first checkers at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (May 18, 2024) – Cole Hesse became a first-time winner, on a night of firsts Saturday at Arlington Raceway. The Gibbon hotshoe made the most of the lower line, made his way to the front of the field by lap five and then made his way to victory lane following his career-first Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod victory. “Definitely down low was fastest, and it seemed like (turns) one and two were better for me,” said Hesse, who would pull away to a two second advantage before the end of the race. “I’ve got one trophy now and hopefully I can add more. IMCA Modifieds headline Clash on holiday weekend at Grays Harbor

ELMA, Wash. (May 20, 2024) – IMCA drivers will race for a couple nice paydays, then they’ll sit back and enjoy one of the best fireworks displays in the Pacific Northwest at Grays Harbor Raceway’s May 25 and 26 Modified Clash. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature on Saturday pays $2,000 to win, the Sunday main event $2,500 to win before the fireworks show brings an end to the Memorial Weekend event. Both are Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility races and pay a minimum of $100 to start the feature. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Shaw Race Cars Western Region, state and track points will be awarded each night. Crystal checkers give DeYoung IMCA Modified wins in 30 straight seasons

CRYSTAL, Mich. (May 18, 2024) – Myron DeYoung might have raced his way into the IMCA record book Saturday night but he’ll be the first person to tell you he didn’t get there all by himself. DeYoung became the first driver to win a Friesen Performance IMCA Modified weekly feature in 30 consecutive seasons, topping the May 18 main event at home track Crystal Motor Speedway. “Winning the regional championship last year was big, but this was an even bigger accomplishment once I started thinking about it,” he said the next day. “It’s humbling to think about all the people who have helped so I can go out and win races. Aikey takes top honors at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (May 19, 2024) – Rain may have caused a delay, but it didn’t put a damper on Sunday’s racing program at Benton County Speedway. A rain shower that started as the first heat of the night hit the track forced a delay of more than an hour. When the skies cleared, it was business as usual at The Bullring. Jeff Aikey found success in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. From his pole position start, Aikey powered away from the field in the Wright Way Trailers 20-lapper and then withstood challenges on a couple restarts to race to victory. (May 17, 2024) – After nearly a month off of racing, Yreka Speedway roared back to life on Friday with a race program that attracted drivers from California, Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event began with a wild start as a car at the front of the field got sideways in turns three and four. Nick Trenchard used some evasive maneuvers to get around the spinning ride then settled into the front spot. The race stayed green before another caution came out on the ninth circuit. Before the main event’s second and final stoppage, a wild three-car tussle for second place position ensued between Mallet, Arizona traveler Timothy Allerdings and Monte Bischoff. Kirchoff tops DCRP’s Tumbleweed Classic

Jack Kirchoff grabbed the lead as the white flag waved, then held off the rest of the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod field for a $500 payday at Dodge City Raceway Park’s Tumbleweed Classic.
