The Final Ride at Stuart ends with Marriott in victory lane

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (July 2) – Everything about the Ron Little Memorial was big. A track record 141 cars took to the track Tuesday for the 20th and final event at Stuart Speedway. Forty-seven of those entries were IMCA Modifieds and Hunter Marriott wrote his name in as the $2,000 feature winner of a 30-lapper that ran green to checkers. Dubbed The Final Ride by members of the late IMCA Modified driver’s family, the main event saw Marriott and Travis Hatcher show the way, with Marriott leading Josh Most and Hatcher early on. Cody Laney advanced to third on lap four and with three and even four wide racing back in the pack it was still Marriott out front at the halfway point. Lapped traffic started around this time, but Marriott was smooth and strong as he went on to lead the entire way to pick up the top check. Diamond Mountain Wild West Modified Tour wins to Alvarado, DeVilbiss

VERNAL, Utah (June 28-29) – The second weekend installment of the 2019 Wild West Modified Tour ended a lot like the first. Ricky Alvarado won the Friday night feature for IMCA Modifieds at Diamond Mountain Speedway while Zane DeVilbiss topped the Saturday show. They’d also paced $1,000 to win, Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying shows during the opening weekend of the tour at Aztec Speedway in May. Alvarado’s tour-leading 33rd win, and seventh at Vernal, came from outside the front row pole and through heavy lapped traffic before the checkers flew. The last 10 circuits stayed green in the 25-lapper and Regan Tafoya and Michael hale completed the top three. “The car was really good. 30th annual Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour starts Saturday in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – IMCA Modified and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car drivers from 12 states and Canada have already pre-registered for the 30th annual Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour. The tour starts its six consecutive day run Saturday, July 6 at Jamestown Speedway. The Tour then goes to Nodak Speedway at Minot on Sunday, July 7. On Monday, July 8, the series travels across the international border to Estevan, Sask., Motor Speedway. Williston Basin Speedway is the next stop on Tuesday, July 9. The series then heads to Southwest Speedway in Dickinson on Wednesday, July 10. Belleville, Mayetta events next for United Rebel Sprint Series

By David Smith Jr., OKTidbits OBERLIN, Kan. – A busy holiday weekend is just ahead as the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing kicks off Thursday night atop the Belleville High Banks Speedway in Belleville, Kan., before making lone 2019 appearance at Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta on Saturday night. Leraas leads last laps for Virginia Sprint Series win

(June 29) – Mike Leraas led the last five times around the Shenandoah Speedway oval Saturday, becoming the eighth different winner in nine Virginia Sprint Series events this season. Chris Ware and Bill Rice paced the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car field to green with Rice out first, leaving Ware to deal with Jerald Harris, Glenn Worrell and Leraas. Rice was a lane up and staying smooth as Harris tried every way to get by. After a caution tightened the field, Rice took off again with Ware, Leraas and Worrell in pursuit. Rice was leading still but Leraas and Worrell were on the way. With five to go, Leraas swept low and into the lead. Single season wins record to Winebarger, Chadwick captures finale, Wild West crown

(June 29) – Collen Winebarger won a single season record fifth feature while Kellen Chadwick’s victory in Saturday’s finale at Willamette Speedway netted him the Wild West IMCA Modified Shootout crown. Chadwick had four runner-up finishes to go with a pair of $1,000 checkers during the eight-race series, beating Winebarger, who’d finished 17th in the fourth tour outing, for the title by 10 points. In the afternoon make-up feature it was utter dominance by Winebarger, who led all 35 laps. All that slow him down were six stoppages, but he mastered every single restart. The win marked Winebarger’s fifth of the week, third in a row and set the record for most triumphs in a single season with the series. It was also Winebarger’s eighth career Wild West victory and his fourth tour win at Willamette. John Campos was second followed by Chadwick, Grey Ferrando and Brad Martin. Johnson collects Late Model win at Off Road Speedway

(June 29) – Jim Johnson raced to his second IMCA Late Model victory in as many nights, coming out ahead of a four-car battle for the lead at Off Road Speedway. Travis Dickes, Ben Sukup and Chris Johnson battled Johnson most of the race. Ultimately, Sukup was able to pass Dickes for second place with two laps remaining, but fell just short of catching Jim Johnson at the finish line. Also the Friday winner at Boone County Raceway, Johnson is hoping the two wins might be a turning point. “It’s been a rough start, with a new car and new chassis.
