Manning Outduels His Uncle to Capture Modified Victory

By Ben Deatherage MERCED, Calif. (May 24, 2025) — Merced Speedway welcomed the third leg of the 2025 Central California Clash on Saturday night, and the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds brought the fireworks early in their 30-lap main event. Bryan Clark set the tone with an early lead, but it didn’t take long for his nephew, Gavyn Manning, to mount a challenge. Manning edged ahead at the stripe on lap three and never looked back. Even as multiple cautions bunched up the field, the Bakersfield driver remained poised and executed each restart with precision. Manning crossed the finish line first to earn his first career Clash series win and his fourth victory of the season in Shaw Race Cars Western Region competition. Santa Maria winner Josh Combs made a steady drive to second, while Ethan Killingsworth rounded out the podium in third. Combs Makes Late Race Pass to Win at Santa Maria

By Ben Deatherage SANTA MARIA, Calif. (May 23, 2025) — The second leg of the 2025 Central California Clash brought the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds to Santa Maria Speedway for the tour’s first-ever race at the Central California coastal facility, featuring a 30-lap showdown. Roseville’s Josh Combs seized the opportunity to claim his first career series victory and first win of the season in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region. Combs took the early lead and maintained it through multiple cautions, which prevented him from encountering heavy lapped traffic. Cody Burke, a four-time Ocean Speedway track champion, briefly overtook Combs before a red flag incident nullified the lap, returning Combs to the front. Burke reclaimed the lead on lap 26, but a left rear flat tire with a few circuits remaining allowed Combs to retake the top spot and secure the win. Katelynn Robertson, the 2023 Nevada State champion, charged into second late in the race, while reigning Arkansas State champion Keith Brown Jr. finished third. Burke Charges Top Shelf for First Boone Win Since 2023

By Coty Mallicoat BOONE, Iowa (May 17, 2025) — The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods delivered the most thrilling battle of the night at Boone Speedway. California’s Braden Claborn jumped to the early advantage, steadily working the bottom of the track while leading the field. But the spotlight shifted to Altoona’s Chris Burke, who rim-rode the cushion and reeled Claborn in after starting five spots back. With a handful of laps left, Burke powered around the outside and into the lead. A late caution bunched the pack, but Burke was flawless on the restart to grab his first win at Boone since 2023. Cory Pestotnik got by Claborn for second, while Claborn settled for third. Noah Speicher: Racing the Plains, Building a Legacy

By Ben Deatherage FORT MORGAN, Colo. (May 19, 2025) — Nestled in the plains of northeastern Colorado, Fort Morgan has long been a place where resilience and reinvention go hand in hand. The fort was established in 1864, and at one point it was manned by Confederate prisoners of war, known as “galvanized rebels,” who chose to enlist in the Union Army rather than remain as POWs. Today, that spirit of grit and determination lives on in the town’s racing community—especially in 14-year-old Noah Speicher. Born into a racing family, Speicher was practically raised on the dirt of I-76. His family owns and operates the track, an elbows-up bullring where cars jostle for every inch of real estate. It’s a place where Speicher has spent countless hours—first as a fan watching his father, Beau Speicher, wheel an IMCA Modified, and now as a racer himself. And Beau still occasionally straps in for a race, reminding Noah that he’s not the only Speicher looking to make some noise. On May 3rd, Speicher added a new chapter to [Read More]

Sproul Wins Modified Thriller At WaKeeney

By Sheldon Wickwar WaKEENEY, Kan. (May 17, 2025) — WaKeeney Speedway brought the curtain down on the John Fose Memorial/Wall of Fame Weekend with a Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature that lived up to the occasion. Jeremy Frenier took command early, storming to the lead as the field settled in behind him. But Daniel Gottschalk soon reeled him in, making the pass after a few circuits to take over the top spot. As the race reached the midway point, a four-car shootout began to take shape with Gottschalk, Frenier, Kyle Rohleder, and Dakota Sproul all in the mix. Gottschalk’s time out front was cut short when Rohleder powered to the lead, but Sproul was just hitting his stride. Methodically working the track, Sproul closed in and made a dramatic last lap pass on Rohleder to secure his second Jet Racing Central Region victory of the season. Rohleder settled for second with Frenier rounding out the podium. Electrifying Charge to Front Nets Price BAPS Win

By Frank Buhrman YORK HAVEN, Pa. (May 18, 2025) — It wasn’t an easy climb, but Sunday night at BAPS Motor Speedway, Landon Price reached the top of the mountain again and enjoyed the view. Four years and nine months after he last visited victory lane in a River Valley Builders PA Sprint Series feature, Price returned Sunday, after an electrifying charge through the field from 11th starting position. That performance also earned the Fleetwood driver the hard charger award. After advancing from seventh to third in his heat race, the Price team’s pill-draw skills didn’t improve, and he picked 11th out of the 12 redraw starting spots, but when the race started, it quickly became obvious that something special was happening with the no. 69P team. Within five laps, Price had raced his way into the top five. From there, each pass came quickly as he sliced through the field. He caught leader Dustin Young on lap 17 and, after a brief side-by-side battle, took over the top spot with two laps remaining. He went on to [Read More]
