Bobby Hogge Tops All-Star Modified Race At Ocean

By Steven Blakesley  WATSONVILLE, Calif. (May 30, 2025) – Salinas’ Bobby Hogge topped the second round of the All-Star Challenge in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds at Ocean Speedway. It was his fifth win of 2025 in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region. Troy Foulger led the opening lap of the 25-lap IMCA Modified feature. Robert Marsh mounted a challenge on the high side to seize the lead on lap three. Foulger slid Marsh in turn four and the duo ran side-by-side on lap five. Hogge edged into the battling, looking to the inside of Foulger as well. The furious battling was halted when Todd Hermosillo spun in turn four. Marsh pitted with a flat left front tire as well. Hogge pounced on the restart, diving inside to lead lap eight over Foulger. Hogge accumulated a 4.2 second advantage that was nullified by Kyle Bryan stopping in turn four on lap 23. Hogge persevered over a green-white-checked finish to nab the victory, followed by Jim Pettit II and Foulger in second and third. Wagner Controls Ocean [Read More]

Paulson Masters ‘The Grove’ for First Win

By Frank Buhrman MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (May 23, 2025) —  Jeff Paulson, a regular Mid Atlantic Sprint Series driver, took advantage of Landon Price’s misfortune and scored his first RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car victory in his first time racing at Williams Grove Speedway with the River Valley Builders PA Sprint Series. Paulson made the trek from Honey Brook in Chester County to Mechanicsburg pay off big-time. He finished third in his heat race, then drew the outside front row starting position for the feature, beside Price, who had looked dominating earlier in the program and seemed on his way to a second consecutive win, after taking the checkers at BAPS Motor Speedway the previous Sunday. Price, who had won his heat by nearly seven seconds, jumped out to the early lead and began to distance himself from the field, with Paulson holding on for second. The expected outcome changed dramatically, however, when the leader apparently made contact with one of the tires marking the inside boundary of the track in turn four and lost a wheel [Read More]

Jason Robbins: Machinist Professor by Day, Racer by Night

By Ben Deatherage  BENTON, Wis. (May 30, 2025) — The number on the door says 211. But the story behind that number is as layered and handcrafted as the engines Jason Robbins builds in the quiet hours of his life, tucked in the rolling farmland of southwest Wisconsin. It’s a Friday evening in Benton, population hovering just above 1,000, where lead mines once fed the Union’s rifled muskets and now powers the dreams of stock car hopefuls. In a town where the most famous factory is Spooky Pinball — a family-run outfit building arcade marvels and fielding a race team — Jason Robbins lives a dual life. By day, he’s a machining instructor at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College. By night, he’s the wheelman of the no. 211 Sunoco IMCA Stock Car for Spooky Pinball founder Chuck Emery. The story of the number? It was quite the compromise. “Chuck had 11E, and I’ve had 21 in the family forever,” said Robbins. “But the 11E was big for Chuck. His uncle raced that number back in the ’80s [Read More]

Oliver Returns to Winning at Beckley Motor Speedway

By Evan McCrory MOUNT HOPE, W.Va. (May 24, 2025) — Jeff Oliver from Pendergrass, Georgia, ended a nearly year-long winless streak with a hard-earned victory in Saturday’s Carolina Sprint Tour presented by GSR Chassis main event at Beckley Motor Speedway. The co-sanctioned show with the Ohio Thunder Sprint Car Series brought 19 RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car teams to the West Virginia high banks for a chilly but action-packed night. Oliver, who last visited victory lane in June of 2023, charged to the front after a lap 15 tangle between early front-runners Cale Cozad and Jadan Bowling reshuffled the order. The incident opened the door for Oliver, who grabbed the lead on the ensuing restart and never looked back. Wyatt Justice led early from the pole and looked poised for his first career series win before Oliver made the decisive move. Justice settled for second, fending off a strong late effort from Jeff Weaver, who completed the podium in third. The win was the 20th of Oliver’s Carolina Sprint Tour career.

Rindt Wins SportMod Feature in Front of Hometown Fans at Shawano

By Justin Zirngible SHAWANO, Wis. (May 24, 2025) — Hometown driver Tommy Rindt earned his first win of the season in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods at Shawano Speedway, thrilling the local crowd with a strong restart and clean drive to the checkers. Outside pole sitter Bryce Clements rocketed to the lead at the drop of the green and looked like the car to beat in the early going. Michael Springborn followed close behind with plenty of company in tow. But Rindt, wheeling his way through the pack, caught fire mid-race and began closing in. As the laps ticked away, Tommy Rindt engaged in a heated battle with the 81 machine of AJ Springborn, the two trading moves in a tight race for the lead. Contact between the pair brought out a caution that reset the field with just a few laps remaining. Rindt took full advantage on the restart and led the rest of the way to score the win. Bryce Clements battled back to finish second, while ninth-starting Dustin Wudstrack navigated through the [Read More]
