By Candice Martin  ANTIOCH, Calif. (May 3, 2023) – Troy Morris III scored the win in the 25-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event, in Wednesday’s opening round of the Central California Clash at Antioch Speedway.  The win by Morris, already eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, paid $1,000. Jim Pettit II motored into the lead at the start ahead of Troy Foulger. The race had multiple cautions during the first 10 laps with Pettit leading Foulger up to that point. Morris moved up to battle Clark Guglielmoni for third on lap 10. A low pass in turn four on lap 13 put Morris into third and he soon joined the battle between Pettit and Foulger for first.  An outside pass on the back stretch on lap 18 moved Morris around both Pettit and Foulger with Foulger going low in turn four to take second. A yellow flag waved on lap 23. However, Morris kept his poise and withstood a serious challenge down the front stretch to hold off Foulger for the [Read More]

Tindall capitalizes, cashes in at I-37

By JM Hallas  PLEASANTON, Texas (April 22, 2023) In my best Michael Buffer voice, “Let’s get ready to rummmblllllllllllle.” It was a big Saturday night at I-37 Speedway as the weekend kicked off the first of four $1,000 to win mini-series races for the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, sponsored by Sundowner Performance Diesel. The Fast Shafts Invitational qualifier got off to a shaky start. The first try saw Chris Morris get out, trailed by Ryan Doyon, Tanner Whitmire, Logan Dinsmore and Cameron Starry. Dinsmore looped it in turns 3-4 with Matt Banker trying to dodge him and making contact with Darrell Boyd. On the next try, Whitmire got second from Doyon, but Boyd would go around for another caution. Finally under green again Whitmire got past Doyon and had a run on Morris for the lead. Dillon Tindall was next to try to put Doyon back a spot and got a look on Whitmire for second on lap three. Dinsmore was working his way back up, taking fifth from Starry on lap five. Up front, Morris [Read More]

Abbey reigns at IMCA Stock Car King of the Highbanks

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 14, 2023) – Jeffrey Abbey can add another title on his already lengthy list of IMCA accomplishments. He’s now king of the King of the Highbanks. Abbey took the checkers in the Friday night main event for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars at Marshalltown Speedway and took a $5,000 check home to Texas.  He got the rich win, and a guaranteed starting spot in the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational, ahead of Dylan Thornton and Troy Jerovetz. Jim Horejsi, who had looked strong in Thursday qualifying, had started on the outside front row and sprang to the lead when the green flag dropped for the 50-lapper. Horejsi soon had the company of Dallon Murty and Thornton to contend with. Thornton found his way around on lap four, taking over the top spot. He continued to lead with 20 laps down, but by this time Abbey had worked his way from seventh into second place and began his quest to reel in the leader. Ward rewarded with $1,000 for Marshalltown Frostbuster win

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 7, 2023) – Tim Ward, the Arizona native who now calls Harcourt, Iowa home, was the class of the field in Friday’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified 25-lap feature during the season opening Frostbuster at Marshalltown Speedway. Ward passed lap one leader Jimmy Gustin on lap two and never looked back. Already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, Ward captured the Frostbuster $1,000 win, finishing well ahead of second running Todd Shute. Gustin held third place, holding back Jeff Aikey and Jake McBirnie. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, The Class Too Tough to Tame, ran a 25-lap, $750 to win main. It was no contest as Tom Berry Jr. jumped to the lead on lap one, after starting sixth. Grabouski soars to Topless Nationals win at Eagle

EAGLE, Neb. (April 2, 2023) – New car, same results. Jordan Grabouski made his first start in a new JGR Chassis a winning one, topping the Sunday feature for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds at Eagle Raceway’s inaugural Topless Nationals. The five-time and defending national champion battled Jeremy Mills in the late going before capturing the $1,000 victory, his career 278th in the division. “I was a little nervous. This is a new design and Justin Clark, Josh Houseman and Robert Brinkman have spent hundreds of hours in the shop,” Grabouski said. “Winning the first night out is always your goal but you don’t always achieve that.”  Mills, the Saturday winner at RPM Speedway’s Mike Hughes Sunflower Classic, had the fastest car much of the night while Grabouski worked his way up from fifth starting. The two traded sliders before Mills’ engine expired late in the race. Grabouski went on to get the W ahead of Ryan Jenkins and Cole Wayman. “One hundred percent, it’s tough to win at Eagle,” said Grabouski, already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying [Read More]

Everything comes up roses for Mills at RPM’s Sunflower Classic

HAYS, Kan. (April 1, 2023) – Jeremy Mills had good finishes to show for his previous handful of visits to RPM Speedway. Now he’s a Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature winner at the Hays speed plant. Mills topped Saturday’s Mike Hughes Sunflower Classic main event, earning $1,000 for his first checkers of the season and career 121st in the division.  “They reworked the track before the Modified feature and it was very racy,” said Mills, the 2022 Iowa State champion and thus already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible. “There was lapped traffic and some cautions that we had to deal with.” After starting third and falling back a couple spots, he raced his way back toward the front and took the lead by taking advantage of one of those yellows.”  “We had an early restart and I decided it was go time,” Mills said. “I went to the top and took the lead from there.” Clay Money started 13th and finished second and 11th starting Dakota Sproul was third.
