Gentry picks up Strawberry Cup feature win

(June 1, 2024) – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars were back at Willamette Speedway on Saturday for the historical Strawberry Cup, a race the venue has hosted for several decades. The race kicked off with a bang as Scott Winebarger took the lead on the first lap. Young talent Calista Johnson, applied pressure on the second circuit, almost overtaking the seasoned driver at the line. This thrilling battle continued for several laps, allowing Myke Landis and Sean Gentry to stay within striking distance. By the eighth lap, Winebarger had established a comfortable lead. Gentry secured the second position from Johnson and set his sights on Winebarger. The 17th and 18th laps saw cautions, setting the stage for a showdown between the two frontrunners. Mods for Mindy show set for Friday at Crawford County

DENISON, Iowa (June 4, 2024) – One thousand dollar paydays are planned for feature winners in three IMCA divisions at Crawford County Speedway’s Mods for Mindy show. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods all race for $1,000 to win at the fourth annual event in memory of Mindy Reetz, sponsored by Finishline Racing Products, this Friday, June 7. The Titan Clash Modified winner becomes eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational and the Stock Car winner becomes eligible to qualify for the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks run for $350 to win, Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts for $200 to win. Foulger, Ryland, Robles all win at Antioch

By Candice Martin ANTIOCH, Calif. (June 1, 2024) – Troy Foulger won the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Antioch Speedway. This was the first win of the season for the multi-time and reigning track champion. Foulger bolted into the lead at the start ahead of Randy Shafer. Andrew Pearce slipped into third on the fifth lap and Foulger had a straightaway advantage by then. Foulger caught slower traffic as Shafer and Pearce battled for second. A yellow flag waved on lap 10. Foulger led Pearce and Shafer on the restart but the yellow flag was out after 12 laps for a backstretch crash involving two cars. Foulger maintained the lead on the restart with Bobby Hogge IV moving into second, but another yellow flag waved on lap 14. Kellen Chadwick got past Pearce for third on the ensuing restart and took second from Hogge on a lap 17 restart. However, Foulger was dialed in and drove a flawless race for victory. Stien sprints to RaceSaver win at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (June 1, 2024) – Mike Stien led the distance Saturday at Arlington Raceway in winning his first IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature of the season. Stien started in the front row alongside Bruce Allen. The race behind them was Brett Allen moving forward and passing five cars to challenge. He tried to get under Stien a couple times but ran out of room on the track and settled for second ahead of Matt Johnson. Matt Looft repeated his winning ways from the previous week, topping both IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod features. Tony Stephensmeier led the Northern SportMod feature for the first seven laps before a caution was thrown for a spinning car. Eagle win for Kovar is extra special

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (June 1, 2024) – Dion Kovar taught his Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod foes a lesson on School’s Out For Summer Night Saturday at Eagle Raceway. Kovar took advantage of his pole position start to put the no. 18 out front from the drop of the green. After running ahead of Joe Feyen most of the way, he’d regain the lead from Feyen and continue on to his first Eagle checkers since June 15 of 2019. “It was a good run. After a whole season of bad runs, this win feels a little extra special,” he said. “I’m happy to get it done, finally. We’ve been in the claim area a bunch of times, but this year we’ve had just a lot of struggles, DNF’s, just trying to figure out this car. Last corner pass scores Boone win for McBirnie

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (June 1, 2024) – Saturday night at Boone Speedway, the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars raced in memory of Eloise Davis, wife of Greg Davis, and mother of Scott Davis. The Class Too Tough To Tame had 43 cars checked in on the night honoring the Davis family. Jimmy Gustin got his second feature win of the year in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified division and Jake McBirnie took the thrilling last corner pass win in the Stocks. Matt Avila found victory lane for the second time this year in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and John Watson was the winner in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Ben George won the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lite main. George led from start to finish in the Mod Lite 15-lap feature, chased the entire caution-free race by last week’s winner Bryan Zehm. IMCA wins at Off Road go to Mielke, Landauer, Meyer

(June 1, 2024) – His early surge from the third row ended up taking Tejay Mielke all the way to victory lane Saturday at Off Road Speedway. Mielke broke through a cluster of four IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, including the rides of polesitter Nate Desive, Ron Pettitt, Jeremy Hoskinson and Derek Sehi, all of whom were contending for the lead. Once the hometown racer got to the front, however, those drivers, joined by Cameron Wilkinson, spent the remainder of the 15-lap feature racing for second place behind Mielke. Wilkinson closed the gap and, with five laps remaining, settled in on Hoskinson’s rear bumper. As the two cars entered turn three, Wilkinson used the high side of the track to make the pass coming out of turn four to edge Hoskinson at the flag stand with Wilkinson taking second while Hoskinson was third. Fitz, Fisher fast in victories at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (June 1, 2024) – Some nights you’re just fast. Trevor Fitz and Joren Fisher proved that Sunday night at Benton County Speedway. Fitz dominated much of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds presented by Wright Way Trailers and Fisher wasted little time making it to the front of the main event for IMCA Hobby Stocks presented by iHeart Radio. In the Modified 20-lapper, Fitz pulled away at the drop of the green and built a lead in excess of four seconds before the caution flag waved just shy of midway. On a couple ensuing restarts, Fitz again assumed command and fought off brief challenges from Cody Laney to score the victory. It was his first at The Bullring. Shute tops a wild one at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 31, 2024) – Marshalltown Speedway was back in action again Friday night after the prior week’s rain out. But would it happen with the questionable weather? It did! And some great racing prevailed. Todd Shute won a “sparks flying” race at the checkers in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified features. It was Kaden Reynolds taking the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win. Brayton Carter saw victory in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. Nathan Ballard won easily in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. RJ Gonzales went to victory lane in the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites and Cristian Grady took the checkers in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. Feature racing kicked off with the 15-lap main event for the Mod Lites. Joe Glick was the early leader but soon had Josh May and Gonzales soon on his tail. Mroczkowski makes it two straight at Outagamie

By Scott J. Owen SEYMOUR, Wis. (May 31, 2024) – Beautiful weather and a full pit area of 140 cars greeted fans Friday night at Outagamie Speedway. The night began as the track honored long-time track worker Bob Wanner who recently passed away. Feature winners on the night included Cory Kemkes, Johnny Whitman, and Tanner Pari who all scored their first local IMCA wins of the year, while Josh Mroczkowski made it two in a row. Taylor Sorenson took command of the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature at the start of the race. Nearing halfway, Sorenson was challenged by Max Oreskovich and Kemkes. On lap 13, Kemkes dove underneath Sorenson entering turn three to take the lead away. Sorenson continued in pursuit, but Kemkes would not be denied the victory. Kemkes scored the win followed by Sorenson and Jerry Vanderloop.
