Whitman Charges to Modified Victory at Outagamie

(May 30, 2025) — The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event at Outagamie Speedway saw Cody Hokenstad hold off the pack at the drop of the green from his pole position. The field barely got one lap in before a quick yellow bunched the group back up. On the restart, Dan Roedl powered his way to the front, taking the lead on lap three. Roedl looked to check out early, but “The Hitman” Johnny Whitman was slicing through the field. Working the low side, Whitman wheeled his no. 08 machine into third by lap six, then charged around the high side to second just two laps later. At the halfway point, Roedl still led, but lap 11 was the turning point — Whitman hugged the infield tires and drove under Roedl to take over the lead. Paris Powers to First CJ Speedway Modified Win of Season

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (May 30, 2025) — Shane Paris of Muscatine scored his first victory of the season at CJ Speedway by topping the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. Paris established himself as the driver to beat early on, taking control from his front row starting spot and never looking back. He raced to the checkers ahead of Drew Janssen and Logan Anderson. The win marked Paris’ first in the Razor Chassis North Central Region in 2025. The Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars feature saw West Burlington’s John Oliver Jr. return to victory lane, besting a strong field. The defending CJ Speedway Stock Car champion appears poised for another dominant season. While the win marked Oliver’s fourth of the year in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region, it was his first triumph at Columbus Junction this season. Roseville’s Josh Combs clinched the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified title with a strong and consistent week. After opening with a ninth-place finish at Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern County Raceway Park, he stormed to victory at Santa Maria. Combs followed that with a runner-up finish at Merced before closing the series with a fifth-place run at Petaluma. Bakersfield youngster Gavyn Manning was runner-up in points after finishing second on opening night, taking ninth at Santa Maria, winning at Merced, and wrapping up the week 10th at Petaluma. Rindt Wins SportMod Feature in Front of Hometown Fans at Shawano

(May 24, 2025) — Hometown driver Tommy Rindt earned his first win of the season in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods at Shawano Speedway, thrilling the local crowd with a strong restart and clean drive to the checkers. Outside pole sitter Bryce Clements rocketed to the lead at the drop of the green and looked like the car to beat in the early going. Michael Springborn followed close behind with plenty of company in tow. But Rindt, wheeling his way through the pack, caught fire mid-race and began closing in. As the laps ticked away, Tommy Rindt engaged in a heated battle with the 81 machine of AJ Springborn, the two trading moves in a tight race for the lead. Cayden Carter, piloting the Michael Peterson-owned no. 1X, claimed the 50-lap feature after taking the lead on a lap seven restart and never giving it up. The Oskaloosa driver dealt with multiple cautions and navigated thick traffic to build a comfortable lead en route to his third EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of the year, each coming at a different track in Iowa. Baca Blazes to $4,600 Anniversary Win at Vinton

By Ben Deatherage VINTON, Iowa (May 25, 2025) — Benton County Speedway celebrated the 46th anniversary of the IMCA Modified division with a 46-lap, $4,600-to-win main event, and it was two-time and defending national champion Chaz Baca Jr. who cashed in. The Mesa, Arizona, standout sliced his way through the field from ninth to score his third Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifier win. He had already secured eligibility to try and qualify for the event at the 2025 Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s with two victories during January’s IMCA.TV Winter Nationals. 2020 National champion Tom Berry Jr. paced the opening circuits until trouble on lap 13 handed the lead to Jerry Flippo.
